Temecula and Pala
« on: April 19, 2015, 12:05:31 AM »

Babe and I rode to the Pala casino this morning.  Once we arrived, we walked throught the casino and then decided to ride up to Temecula for breakfast.

Went to Old Town Temecula for brekfast and then decided to head up to Ortega Hwy. and Hell's Kitchen.  Got to Murietta, Ca. and got a flat on the rear.  Damn it, the extended warranty tire & wheel package just replaced that tire a few weeks ago.....before going to Vegas and Fullsac.

Call Quaid Temecula HD and yes, they'd send somebody with the truck right away.  Guy showed up in 15 min. and within an hour and a half we were back on the road.  Just a thousand miles on this tire and I got another new rear tire thanks to the extended warranty tire & whell package and a drywall screw dead center in the tire.

They took care of us and we were back on the road.  The guys at the dealership told us a bunch of them were going to ride up to the Hideaway after work.  I had a vague idea what highway it was on, up in the hills by Lake Henderson.  Babe and I were off, back over Temecula Pala Road and then from Pala up the highway towards Lake Hendersen and we finally arrived.....

The sign says "cold beer and hot chicks".....hhmmmmmm

A large saloon it also has a very large outdoor seating area under the shade trees (it was about 90F up there today) and a lot of motorcycles out front.  Kind of reminded me of Cold Springs Tavern but this palce was packed with bikes of all makes...

A fun place far from anywhere or anybody.....burgers and fries, loud music and friendly people.  We'll be going back again  :2vrolijk_21:

Nope....no patch kit.  You take one of those new tires that you have up in the rafters and bring it down to me and we'll be good.  I told that svc. mgr. "it's probably that damn Van".  ;D

JCZ,

Why would you tow and replace the tire when you could patch it and continue your ride, replacing the tire later? Carry a patch kit. What if you were out of mobile phone coverage?

Temecula is in So Cal.....very close to both Los Angeles and San Diego....where do you not have cell reception?  And I was 6.7 miles from the dealership I'd just left.  The truck was there quicker than I could patch the tire.  And.....the Tire & Wheel package on the extended warranty is there for a reason.

So......the patch kit remains new and unopened.  But should I ever need to patch a tire on the road, I'll call my friend Van to come and do it for me!  :bananarock:

The Hideout is a meeting place for rides to all points of the compass. Always a great place to check out sweet rides and coldbbeer. Usually there's a good local band playin some fine rock & roll
Just one more thing that makes San Diego county a fine Wintah home

Excellent!

What a difference a dealer can make!  Glad it was a pleasant experience and a good ride to boot!

Im glad you did that ride JC, there are many good MC roads around those "hills" that we call mountains down here and the Hideout is a good meeting place to hookup. I hope I get a chance to share a couple of them with you

SDCVO ran in to Babe and I up in Julean today, just as we were headed out of town.  Alan caught up to us and we pulled over in the shade and talked for awhile.  He was headed to Temecula and we were headed Lake Hendersen so we rode together until our turn off.

Babe and I were headed to the campground there at Lake Hendersen where friends of hers were camping.  We then rode back a couple of miles to the Hideout to grab a burger and fries.  We noticed immediatly that the atomosphere was sullen.  Didn't take us long to learn that the hot little blond waitress that wore the daisy dukes and cowboy boots (I thought that was the way she dressed the day we met her.....dind't know that was her trademark way of dressing until we were told today), Saddie, was killed last night at her home.  It was obvious to us when we met her that she was very popular with the customers and obviously very well liked.

The story at the Hideout today is that she broke up with her boyfriend in the past week or so and that he went back over and killed Saddie and Saddie's mother then shot himself.  Sad story.

Here's a link to the news article that I just found....   http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/may/02/murder-suicide-shooting-warner-springs/

That's what I overheard some of the others saying today.  Sad situation.

If we weren't so damn hungry or someplace else close by to eat I think we'd have just left.  It really sucked that we're ordering from a lady that can't quite crying and then she kept apologizing to us for crying.  I explained to her that an apology wasn't necessary and that we totally understood.  Had to say a quick silent prayer for all the staff and regulars.

I have been stopping there for years and she has always been very nice and your right, very popular. A couple of months ago I had a discussion with her and she was telling me about the farm she had in Warner Springs and her raising chickens and various crops. I was impressed by what a hard worker she was and really seemed to have her act together. What a shame!
Certainly not to make light of this horrible deal but it was nice to run into you guys today and at least get to ride together for a short time, I like your pace and look forward to a real ride.

Thanks for the interesting ride report JC - you sure do get around... Sorry to learn of the recent tragedy though. Being around a bunch of grieving folks can be difficult.
