FCC14 Cams 103 Dyno
« on: January 14, 2007, 06:55:46 PM »

Posting this Dyno sheet for CVOJOE I did his cam swap to the FCC14 Gear drive cams, Delkron Billet Cam plate, Fueling lifters and oil pump. SE pushrods. Also added Billet pushrod tubes and lifter blocks.

He already had a Ness Big Sucker, Rineharts, and the Race Tuner.

Numbers are the best I've seen from a 103 with stock heads and pistons. Tq kicks in at 2800 and pulls hard to 4k.

Dude,

What does a set up like this cost?  And who mapped the RT?

CVOJOE brought all the parts to me, I know he scored a deal on the cam plate on EBay. Not sure what he paid for all the rest. The FCC cams, Gear kit, & Bearings runs about $800 if memory serves me right. Check with Brad a Freedom Cycles to be sure.

The RT was mapped by Bob @ RC Cycles in Hayward, CA

With the CVO group discount, I got the Freedom cam kit for $710, minus the pushrods and tubes, since I already had some SE adjustable pushrods, etc. Got the kit last June sometime, and as Jim said Brad swapped it out for the updated version cams. Great service.

I believe their complete kit now lists for $900, without the discounts and you can check it out  here: http://www.freedomcyclereno.com/eshopprod_cat_2852-25994_product_346352.YB14SEC_Gear_Drive_Cam_Kit.htm

I managed to get the Feuling Oil Pump/Lifter kit from CycleSpot for $365 and the Delkron cam support plate for about $250 on ebay. Next is the outer main shaft bearing support install to help hold it together now, it's due in this week sometime.

Joe, was there a particular reason other than the good deal in eBay score that took you to the Delkron plate rather than the Feuling plate to go along with the Feuling pump and lifters?  I've actually got the Feuling plate.  Wouldn't have paid full cost for one though and would have instead just stayed with the stock part had that been the only option.  I was lucky enough to score a Feuling plate on eBay though.  Got it for about $125.00 I think mostly because the seller misspelled Feuling and apparently no one but me saw the auction.

If you're doing that GP outer bearing support for the crank you're going to like it a lot when you get it in hand.  One of those pieces that just by it's machining you know is sweet.  It will work with the HD automatic chain tensioner if you're thinking about doing that while you're in there.

VERY impressive numbers cvojoe.  And that afr line is flat as a pancake.  Your dyno guy know what he's doing for sure.

Hey Don,
No reason except the Delkron was available and price was right. I think it was the thing to do with the mods, the oil pressure is fantastic and one less thing to worry about. The inner tensioner was pretty much shot at 12K and the outer was OK, Jim found some scoring in the oil pump but said it was still servicable. Both Feuling and Delkron were rated good from all that I read, so can't say one way or another which was best. Yeah, lots of people have trouble with their spelling. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Already have the auto-chain tensioner installed; did that with the bling-chrome outer primary. So next is the GP bearing support brace. The guy that designed it(Ron) also runs the place where I got the dyno done, and he says that they see a lot of 88" with failed bearings and very few mods done. Better safe than sorry.

Some great numbers coming from a 103" considering no head work.  Jim did you well. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more comments on this cam set up with these HP and TQ numbers on a 103" with no head work......... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Those are some impressive 103 Numbers. If the Heads and Pistons are indeed, Stock, it's the best I have seen.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Later--HUBBARD

Carl,
Heads and pistons are stock 103"; and heads have never been off the engine.
A great improvement in the torque band with the cams and the oil pressure with the feuling pump & lifters is great. Hard to put a price tag on improvements, but the added grin factor is priceless.
