Let Michelin know we want SG/RG/RK Commander II tires!

http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/help/contact.html    or give them a call

180/55B-18 80H on the rear

130/60B-19 61H on the front

Just sent a note to Michelin. I hit send before I could copy...so here's the gist of it.

Stated sizes......mentioned low mileage and the propensity to cup of the Dunlops....as well as the fact that the RG, RK, and SG CVO all take the same sizes.....that I know a couple Ultra riders with Commander IIs that are impressed....

Not me, fine with Dunlop. Easy to obtain, can be obtained at discount most times if you plan a little and the last set on my SERG went 18K.

You're Ultra does not have the same size tires as the SG/RG/RK. My last one went 18k kms...this one is starting to cup at 12k kms

Yes my 09 SERG did have the same size on the rear as you are describing and I did get 18K out of it. Didnn't have the 19" front but my 18" front presented no problems.
I had known of the cupping or irregular wear problems that people talk about. I could have gotten another 1K out of them but dealer had a sale with free mounting and it saved me the trouble of taking them off myself which I normally do and carting them in, so I replaced them @ 18K.
I do go to the trouble of using a couple 8' flourscent tubes and aligning the bike when I do belt adjustment etc.

Not sure if its a fluke or not, but my 15 CVO Road glide ultra got less than 15K out of the rear.

On my 09 CVO RG, 18 rear was usually 20K miles, the 12 CVO RG 18 rear was 18K.  My 13 CVO king with 18 rear only got 15K, but the motor was built with 2K on the bike, has a lot more torque and HP than stock and is ridden as such.

I sure hope my 15 CVO RG Ultra was a fluke getting that low a milage out of the rear.

'Spoke with the Michelin rep Biketoberfest '14 about tires for the '09 SERG...

"I think we're coming out with the 19 Front, nothing on the 18s Front or Rear"

When I asked how Michelin determines what tires to produce ? "Vehicle registration data"

'Hopefully since some HDs have Michelins as OE, they will eventually produce tires for our 18 & 19" Baggers  :nixweiss:

I'd rather they produced some grippier tyres something like their Pilot Road series - as long as they lasted 5k miles I'd be happy.

Could it be the weight of the tour pack adding to the wear?

I doubt it as on my 12 SERG and my 09 SERG I ran chopped tour packs.  So the ten pounds or less more for the king, I doubt would cause that.

Michelin has the part numbers for these sizes, but no tires. Waiting myself to replace the cupped Dunlops.

I talked to a local Indie in Bentonville AR yesterday about new tires for my 12 CVO SG and he said both Commander II and Elite III tire should be available on 29 Aug.  Funny how he had that date to the day, but I have no reason to doubt him.  He could have sold me one of the HD tires for $300 + 65 install (rear) but suggested I wait.

I just put my first set of Commander II's on my '13 SEUC. I've got 10K miles on them and the rear is at 7/32 and the front is at 03/32. They're wearing well and they don't sound like dump truck tires going down the road like all of my Dunlop's have. The bike tracks straighter and they handled great in every condition on our last trip totally 7400 miles. They also were much cheaper than having the OEM Dunlops. The front was $149 and the rear was $199. They have my vote!!

Not on the Michelin website yet.
Dunlop sure does not like the Michelin Commander IIs....any surprise that they want to try and keep a grip on our short and curlies?
