Nitrogen in the tires?
« on: February 06, 2007, 04:31:44 PM »

Bought new tires for one of the cars the other day and they put nitrogen in instead of air.  The brochure they gave me described Nitrogen as an inert, dry gas that's non-combustible, non-flammable and non-corrosive.  States the advantages as stablizing a tire's inflation pressure as it minimizes fluctuations due to moisture, ambient temperature changes, etc.  Anybody heard of or tried this in their "bike" tires?

Try the "search" tool up top ^ .  Can remember a couple of threads in the last 12 months or so that talked about this.  Assuming the text all survived The Transition I think you'll find most everyone felt that nitrogen in their tires wasn't something they were going out of their way to find or secure.

Thanks Twolanerider and Fired00d.  As one of the theads you referred me to suggested, I should have done a search before posting.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  :2vrolijk_21:

I run nitrogen in all of my cars and Motorcycles with no problems. I have a 10 gallon tank of it in my garage in case I have to top one off. The tires stay inflated to the proper inflation much longer than regular air. Nascar and Nasa swear by it. No change in pressure with the weather.

I want wheels that sing like when Sharon Stone tosses Russell Crowe her father's Sheriff's badge at the end of " The Quick and The Dead "
