engine noise sounds like spark knock

Does anyone hear a metallic noise from the front of the 110 engine when you are barely on throttle at around 3000 rpm. I keep thinking it is spark knock, but it doesn't seem like knock since it goes away under heavy load. I don't mind the nosie, as long as it is not spark knock.

What gear are you in when this occurs?

That or the collars on the valve springs hitting the rocker box. I believe that others had that issue....

Mine, also.

Yesterday, after the first inspection the dealer says :
"Yes it's noisy, but if it was a problem we would receive an information from the MOCO"

Wait and see !! :nervous:

I have the same noice. HD says they know nothing about it. They have not looked at the bike yet so i am not sure how to tell them about other fixes since they don't put much faith in our foroum. i will try to convice them but my dealer has never been able to think outside the HD box.

Lots of threads about top-end clacking, noise, and such.  It's expensive to fix the factory flaw.

same thing here even after a new engine, it is definetly some sort of 110 valve train noise. This is apparently a noise only the owner can hear, as the dealer and HD rep act as though i am nuts when i brought it up. Engine was replaced due to overheating and that one also had the noise, light throttle around 2800-3500rpm's.

we all have it. turn the radio up or get louder pipes is the only fix. :orange:
