I guess it's my turn..
« on: April 22, 2007, 01:54:00 PM »

Got home from the CVO tour to find this..:sauer005:

After 4,500 miles.. running V&H TD's and SEAC.

It's kinda strange that the head tag looks discolored in the pic but doesn't in person.  I already have an appointment to get it fixed.  Is it usually just a bad head gasket or is there some warpage going on?  I'd like to know what some of you folks found out about this issue.

not good, the '07's are turning out to have their own set of problems, makes the paint issue on the '06s seem very minor

I feel your pain. Dealer just replaced second gasket on mine. First one went out when it burnt the exhaust valve & they changed they entire head. Second one just started leaking like yours, minor but annoying.  Personally I think the second leak was due to human error but we'll see. Other than that the bike seems to be running great. (knock on wood)

I think what you have is a first year run - I'm sure the motor company will address the issue on the number of warranty issue's they have.

Sorry to hear this is beginning to be a major PIA for the 110 guys.  I guess the paint was the '06 cross to bear and this may be the one for the '07's.

It's odd that at least the touring bikes have all too commonly had a defining issue for each year's production.  The 04 SEEGs had the peeling chrome on wheels and elsewhere.  The 06 guys had the horrendous paint problem.  Then too many had salt rubbed in the wounds by poor handling of the problem by the company.  Now the new engine and drivetrain is biting many of the 07 guys in the butt.

Obviously we should expect some statistically greater degree of problem because "hand built" on a push cart is not better than the monitoring and oversight of the mechanized assembly line (no matter how warm and fuzzy it sounds).  But each of these years' issue were at least somewhat systemic and above and beyond the individual mistakes that would be part of two workers following a wooden cart down an aisle in a building without air conditioning.

Fortunately enough extra is paid for these bikes that Harley Davidson Inc and the dealers have their "Practical & Immediate Special Services Youbetcha Warranty" (PISSY Warranty) ready to jump in and help us out.  Oh, and thank god I got an 05.

Did I miss something if you buy a 07 off the floor and have an engine upgrade , The Stage II is 1690 (103) That you can not get a 110 upgrade done lends some weight to the post in the engine about some parts not fitting just right inside the engine leading to failure. ?

Actually, the problems that are showing up on the 110's have nothing to do with them being assembled by hand in York.  Remember, the engine/tranny combo for both the 110's and the 96's, are made in Wisconsin and shipped whole to York.  All they do at York is slide the engine/tranny unit into the frame, bolt it in and add all the connections...so the problems with the 110's actually comes from the process in Wisconsin.  Just my $0.02 on that.

Hey Ace, don't feel alone!  While in Birmingham this past weekend another member from this site pointed out the same oil leak on my bike.

Approximately 7K miles, Race Tuner, Rineharts, SE Stage I and one other classified mod.

It's a shame that I'm not alone on this subject.  From the posts that I've been reading, it seems the magic number is between 4,000 and 5,000 miles.

Now I have to wait until next week to get the bike worked on.  I hope they do it right.  I hate to have the stealership work on my bike, I think they do a sh**ty job in anything they do.  I'd rather do it myself, but in this case the warranty prevails..
