LED Accent Lights
« on: January 03, 2005, 01:48:55 PM »

My bike took on a red glow this weekend. I added red LED clusters to the various spots around the engine giving it a cool red glow. Its looks way cool with teh red paint.

What do you think??

I really wish you'd not posted the photo.  I've honestly never really cared for all the onboard LEDs that seem to litter so many otherwise cool looking bikes.  It gets to be overkill too often.  That is at least by my tastes in such things.

However......

Those red lights on that bike look pretty cool.  Very good in fact.  Good enough to make a man think (which is often dangerous).  So how about filling in a few details of the installation?  How well hidden is everything?  How serviceable is the system?  How many lights and where?  All the juicy gory details?

If you want I can take some closeup pics of the install for you.

Please do.  I'm always happy to see someone else's methods or ideas.  Never know when you might see something that should have been obvious but wasn't.  Thanks.

I have been giving some thought to the lights on the SEEG...Have them on the chopper and it turns a lot of heads at night.

Looks like you did some fine work...Enjoy the attention!  That's part of the experience!

As requested here is some detail pics of the install. I don't show all of the locations but you'll get the idea. The lights are attached with VHB double sided tape. This is the same tape used by body shops to hold trim on cars. I brought the leads from the wires together under the tank and used heat shrink to put them all together the combined harness runs back under the frame alone the gas tank vent line, then throught the frame under the seat. I used an aux power connector and connected the fuse to the switched output. That way I can turn them on and off via the aux switch.

Hope this all helps someone, its nice to give back something to this site as its been great to me [smiley=laugh.gif]

Enjoy

Noticed that you're answering whose lights those are via PM rather than on the board.  If you're not comfortable sharing the manufacturer's name here please drop a PM my way saying whose parts those are also.  Since the shades of red might differ from supplier to supplier would like to know who made the ones that looked so good.

Great looking LED's. I am sure the pictures are not near as good as the look in person. Where did you find a 5-LED strip, haven't seen one of those?

At least I am now settled on what color to use!!

Thanks, Michael
