"The South Dakota Office of Accident Records reports in 2006 almost 75-percent of motorcycle drivers involved in crashes were not wearing helmets." I'm not certain what point they were trying to make with this comment, since in any state where helmets are not required by law I would guess about 75% don't wear one. Now if they had said that in the 22 fatal accidents 75% were not wearing helmets, the statement might have a little more impact.
I get the willies every time I ride or drive past a bar and see a bunch of bikes parked there. Drinking and driving in a car is bad enough, but on a bike it is beyond a doubt one of the dumbest things you can do. As we all know (or should know), riding a bike takes a lot more skill than guiding the old cage home at 2:00 am. And when it comes to those sudden stops, at least the cage has some safety features that will protect you from yourself.
If you must drink, please leave the bike at home and utilize a designated driver for the cage. The life you save may be your own, or maybe even mine.
