LA CROSSE, WI (August 24, 2007) S&S Cycle announces the S&S 160ci Pro Stock-powered Buell ridden by Matt Guidera of the Mohegan Sun Race Team wins in Maple Grove.
In a race that seemed it would never finish, thanks to three rain delays, Matt Guidera took his first ever place in the winner's seat. Not only did Guidera win in the final, but also he had the weekend's best light with a .007.
Guidera ran in the sixes all weekend, posting a 6.990, 6.966, 6.945 and a winning 6.971 at 188.02mph. With this win, it puts the S&S 160ci Pro Stock-powered Buell riders at four wins on the season, the Suzuki riders with four wins and the H-D® team with three.
"Going into the last six races of the season, things look great for the S&S 160ci Pro Stock powered teams," said Charlie Hadayia, S&S Senior Manager of Racing. "Seeing Matt Guidera evolve and run through this race to a win was a great surprise and a long time coming. The team has worked very hard for the last two & half years for this. I hope he continues on this winning path," concluded Hadayia.
“We pretty much knew the rain was going to come, we didn't think it was going to hold out that long actually. I thought we were going to call the race and maybe move it somewhere or delay it for another week or take it to Indy or something like that but I guess they planned on racing come hell or high water on this deal," said Matt Guidera.
The next chance to see all the excitement of an NHRA event will be August 29th through September 3rd, 2007 at the Mac Tools Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana. In that race, top seated Matt Smith on the Torco Racing S&S-powered Buell, Chip Ellis on the G2 Drag Specialties/S&S powered Buell and Peggy Llewellyn on the Karl Klement S&S powered Buell are all looking to capitalize on the momentum that the S&S powered bikes have been building.
Hoist!
