D&D Fatcat's 2 into 1--Quiet Standard or Quiet Performance ?
« on: January 12, 2008, 11:53:20 PM »

Anyone know the db difference between the two quiet baffles and are there any performance differences. I imagine the quiet performance baffle is loader but by how much and how much hp & tq can be gained if any. Hoist , you may know since you dynoed the two different baffles.

Hey KD! The Quiet baffle muffler should be used unless you've done extensive engine work, like your flowing your heads and larger TB's, etc. The Quiet Performance muffler is much more free flowing and is better matched to a higher flowing worked motor. It is also VERY LOUD!

If I were just doing Stage 1 or 2, I'd stick to the Quiet Muffler. ;)

I've got a fatcat with standard baffle on a high compression 96" motor and it's too loud for me...every time I shower down on the throttle I expect the police to get me...If I had to do it again I'd definitely get the quiet baffle...the quiet baffle flows plenty for a cvo 110" unless you're doing extensive engine mods like head porting, bigger cams and throttle body

I have a D&D Fat Cat 2-1 on a bike that I just bought. I didn't do the work my friend SirMike had it built. It has the quiet performance baffle in it. The build I have is a 113ci. It is not quiet by any meens. Not loud either. It has a distinct sound. Not like any of the duel mufflers that I have had on other bikes. I have solid dyno #'s with this set up.

I have the Quiet Baffle and you can replace the Standard Baffle for I think less than $75.

I'd sure like to hear the D&D 2 into 1 quiet baffles.  Anyone going to York in April or Adirondacks in June?

Thanks Rich, looking forward.  You may just cost me a couple thousand for pipes, ghost pipe, tuner, AC, and dyno....  Got any pics of yours?

I am heading to work and will for a pic later.  Skip the ghost pipe.  It looks great w/out it.  Why be a conformist and put 2 pipes on it?  Rich

It's all about symmetry and Feng Shui.  I can't help it, it's in my wiring.  It would look too out of balance for me....

I was like Hoist was at first, I thought the performance quiet baffle on the D&D was alittle loud at first, but after awhile, it grows on you! :nixweiss: When you are on the bike, it sounds like it is loud, (but it's really not!!), when you are next to it, it sounds good.
It's not that it is loud when you are on the bike, it just has a differant type of sound on the bike than the duals did, if that makes any sense!! :nixweiss:

I sold my bike to Tommyo and he said that he wasn't sure about the 2-1 either, but he says it is growing on him!! Plus the performance that it gives the bike makes it worth it!! It gives it a good torque curve!!

When I do another bike this spring, if I do the 2-1, it would definitly be the D&D w/performance quiet baffle again!!

This bike is a 113, it's all H-D stuff, (except the D&D), look at the dyno sheet, it pulls great from 2200rpm all the way through to 6200rpm.  :2vrolijk_21:

York in April (assuming of course the Travel Gods don't step in between now and then).  The pipe is on the bed in the spare room right now.  Will be on the bike before April though.

2lane, you going with the quite standard baffle or the quiet performance baffle ? What mods do you have. Trying to decide if I will benefit or need the performance baffle.

KD, I've got the "standard" quiet baffle.  No performance baffle. I'm only interested in bottom end and making that as good as I can while not paying any more noise penalty than I have to.

When it goes back together the combination will be the FatCat 2-1s, HTCC CNC ported heads, Axtell 3 15/16" cylinders for 107" with their pistons to match and head work done to match the cylinders and pistons, Mackie's 598 cam and a 50mm throttle body and intake.
