. . . which one would you get?  An '05 or '06, and why?  Or, doesn't it matter?

I think first he'd start by putting the thread in the SEVR board. huepfenlol2 huepfenlol2

Then I'd tell him to get the '06 Orange one.

Brian...a few things to consider between the 05 and 06.  First, which style graphics do you like?  The 06 is the only other CVO to have the eagle other than the SERG.  The 05 has a completly different graphics style.  The 06 has Brembo brakes..05 does not.  06 has the 240 rear...05 is 180.  The headwork is slightly different on the 06, but the difference is insignificant, IMO.  There is a little more chrome on the 06...grips, pegs, and a couple of more odds and ends.  The rake is slightly different on the 06.

Those are things that immediately come to mind.

Color:  Of course, I like the RED (Scarlet)...fell in love with my bike the first time I saw it, but it took me three months to finally buy it.  I've seen the Orange, and I personally like the red better because of the flake color.  But I am not a big orange fan...I have no orange clothing...the color just doesn't go well with my coloring.  Craig's Yellow is beautiful, and with a dark tan seat, it would add the touch it needs, IMO.

Two main things would make me buy the 06 over the 05...the SE graphic and flame pin striping, and the fat rear tire.  The fat rear tire makes the 06 sale for a little more, IMO.

No offense, Ed...the 05 is gorgeous too.

Hey, Terry, thanks for the reply!  I have the obnoxious SE graphic on the SERG, so that's not a necessity huepfenlol2, however, the fat rear tire and the Brembos are definitely a consideration on the '06.  Still, I like the silver motor on the '05 (just seems more "CVO" nixweiss) and the graphics are still very "SE," so it's sort of a toss-up for me, in a way. Undecided

I agree the '06s seem to be going for a little more coin.  Not sure if that's just 'cause they're a year newer or due to the fat tire. nixweiss

I expect either one is a sweet ride! huepfenjump3

All other things being equal, it's the rear tire, Brian.  One of the main upgrades you see on the vrod forum is the wide tire kit add...it is an expensive propostion, particularly with the chrome swingarm.  Have you looked closely at either bike?  One other thing you may like, or not, is the flame theme pin stripe, like the SEEG's.

There is some debate, mostly from 05 owners, over which bike handles better, with the 05 folks saying theirs handle better because of the 180 rear.  In truth, it makes little, if any difference, particularly with the rake change in 06.

So, the '06 has less rake?  I was not aware of any change in the chassis between the years. nixweiss
