Eagle,

Thankyou my friend. The swingarm is a new one made by Zodaic which I sourced from the UK (not sure if you have Zodiac in USA it is a company based in Europe) but I have had to modify it slightly so I could get the full suspension travel.

Cheers

Aussie,

Looks like it's going to be a great mod. You know, I was thinking....

While under the impression you are one part normal working biker and 99 parts magician who only has to wave a magic wand to get top notch results like you do, I remain in awe of the projects you tackle and complete in your spare time.

By comparison, I have more time each year as retirement starts sinking in. As hard as I have worked on my two rides and even with additional time to approach and finish mods of the same caliber as you have, I could never get the same results as you do.

So I live vicariously through your experiences. Just as you might desire the 110" on my SE RoadKing; I still wish for the fat rear like Mick the Prick's SE FatBoy. I still have those pictures on my garage wall.

So I say to you, hurry up. I want to ride the fat rear end already. lol

Altugo,

Hey, you know Aussie is wrapped up in a project or two when he isn't blabbing all over the place. lol.

I imagine he will come up for air sooner or later. When he does, we won't be able to shut him up. "Chrome this and Chrome that", he'll say....

And the sick part is most of us will be listening. Then wanting pictures probably.

I'm knowing I am sick with it.

Mike,

I am spending as much time as i can but i am also quite busy at work lately. Not to mention i have had a few minor set backs with the project.

#1: I managed to trash the rear fender with a grinder. So then i sourced a new one from my local stealer who said they could have it here in 3 days from the Australian HD warehouse.[i dont normally buy parts here as they generally work out nearly double the price, but on this part it worked out being very close on price {due to a cheap part but a big shipping carton} so to save time i got it here] then finally after 3 weeks it turned up. Well as usual i was excited to get a new part, i took it home & opened it up only to find it was a narrow fender to suit a 150 tyre. soapbox soapbox soapbox soapbox
It turned out i gave them the correct part number but some how the wrong part was in the box. So now i have returned that one & done what i should have done in the first place, order one from the good old USA!

#2: When i was installing the Baker DD6 i was checking the housing as per Bakers instructions & found a problem right where they said a potential problem existed. So then i had to order a new transmission housing, but that was here in about 2 weeks.

#3. After installing the new transmission with a half inch longer mainshaft for the wide tyre offset i then found when i fitted the compensating sprocket, clutch assembly & primary chain the 2 sprockets were out of alignment by about .080". Once again i tried to get the spacers required but could not get any here. Not wanting to wait another 3 weeks i had to make a spacer which probably worked out better as i got it in perfect alignment by making a .078" spacer (even though there is a .030" tolerance with this alignment)

#4. The extended jack shaft for the starter i had was also about .040" short. But that was a very simple fix with a small washer.

#5. i could not get a longer clutch push rod to suit the hydraulic clutch either so i had to extend that by a half inch also.

#6: the new swingarm also took a bit of work to get the full suspension travel also required a few brackets welded on to suit the stock belt guards.

Apart from those couple of things it is comming along well

Cheers
