White Electrodes
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:11:05 PM »

I know I'm not going to like the response but...

I just pulled the plugs on my 103, the ground electrodes are white on one side.

Never seen this before, I've seen clean, tanned, and fouled.

Does the white mean it's to lean?

I replaced the stock air filter with a K&N this year, should I have had to re-map?

There are no mods on the motor and the plugs are 6R12.

They would'a been white, bone stock too. These bikes are setup way too lean. I'd remap a bone stock bike, even if I didn't do a damn thing to it (which we all know isn't possible)! ;)

So I went to my local tuner... when we went to pull of the muffler we found that the front cylinder header was loose... gasket was toast!

Air was being sucked in at the front.

Solved the elcetrode problem and my engine ping as well!

Fixed the problem, did a dyno run, then installed a power commander.

Didn't dyno too well, was only able to get about 71 horses out of the motor.

Next step was a leakdown test... chit, 135 lbs in each cylinder.

So now the debate is it the rings or will I have to go oversize?

Bought my bike used form a dealer here who picked it up in the USA.

I'm thinking now that it was a hot state because both cylinders are giving the same readings.

Any suggestions on how long I may have till I have to tear it down? :nixweiss:
