PC map after gear drive install
« on: July 31, 2008, 11:46:48 AM »

I know nothing of the PC system, use a SERT on my bike.

We are preparing to replace the cams and oil pump on LtBawbs bike with the SE oil pump and Yuill Bros gear drive cams.

My question - Is there something I can do after the job to re-map the PC.
The bike currently has a PC, air cleaner ( I think) and Reinharts.

Looking for guidance for after the install to get the bike running decent.

What cams are you installing Duane?  There are lots of PC maps available that will cover some of the more common parts mixes.  Might be as simple as scoring or being sent one of those maps and just loading it in the Power Commander.  Share the cam choice and other added accessories and we'll see what's out there you might use.

Call Brad at Yuill. He should have a map for the PC Duane. ;)

Yuill cams for the 103 and whatever gear drive Jim recommends.

How are the maps loaded with the PC, same as the SERT?

If using a computer - what software is the interface?

With those cams a map is quite likely here on the site or in Jim's library.  Would be very surprised if something isn't very readily available there.  And, yes, loading is just a software thing.

Copy of the program should have come with the Power Commander.  If it is no longer around it can be freely downloaded from the manufacturer's website here (bottom of the page):

The gear kit will be S&S in some shape or form. Maybe thru Andrews. There's no gear selection or recommendation. Just a gear drive conversion kit.

PC has their own software to interface with the PCIII USB. With that installed, you can download the maps into your computer, then download it from your computer to the PCIII.

Check w/ Yuill Bros for the map. They have maps for their stuff! ;)

Anyone have any ideas for a starter map (break-in) for a Jim's 131 inch, 58-mm Throttle Body, True Duals and SERT. I ordered motor through Jenni at Tri County, pretty good deal by the way and what a great gal to work with, and she was sure tech support at Jim's would help me, but Nope,, they (Jim's) are rude SOB's, or at least Margo is, (another story for another day).  Anyway, installing the motor myself and plan to find a good tuner after break-in and looking for a decent map to get me through the first 500 miles. Other plan is to start with one of the caned SERT 113 inch maps and fine tune from there but if someone has been through this and can help with a map, sure would be a life saver   ::)

And hey Hoist,, thanks for your leads and tips.... like you said, Jenni is a great gal
