How do I reduce pics ?
« on: August 13, 2008, 02:12:51 AM »

I have pics that are 2300 to 2900 mb.  How do I reduce these to fit into the forum?  Is this possible.  I'm stupid with computers.  I have them on a thumb drive ,

I use Microsoft Picture Manager, which is part of Microsoft Office.  On a Windows machine, click Start, All Programs, Micorosft Office Tools, then Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  Open the picture that you want to reduce, click Picture (on the top), then click Resize.  A panel will open next to the picture.  Select Predefined width x height.  Select Document Small (800 x 600) from the drop down menu and click OK.  If you want to overwrite the original, click File (on the top) then click Save.  If you want to keep the original, click File (on the top) then click Save As, check the file name, then click OK.  Good luck!

I right click on the file and in the menu choose resize. I use the medium. You can also right click and open w/ Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and resize there. It will make a resized copy of your pic and add it to the end of your folder. Simply use it in the "Browse" box below your post.

Screamin, that only works if you already have the software loaded. What Frank didn't tell you is that he is running MS Vista at home and XP at work. I walked him through downloading "Powertoys for Windows XP" a program that our Great WebHo Fired00d exposed me to. His last pm to me this morning was that he was going to try it at home.

Another option is to open the pix in Paint and choose resize.

XP Home, Ver. 5.1  Power Toys including Tweak UI and Image Resizer. I forgot that the resizer wasn't in the basic program. Works extremely well. Integrates very well into lots of programs.

Or you can right click on the pic when you have them in the Thumbnail view. Click "Edit" and it will open up the Edit Options Panel. One option is resize. Go from there. ;)

With which software Howie? Which operating system? XP doesn't come with a resizer automatically, you have to download it.

To clarify, I have MS Picture Manager on mine with XP. It doesn't come with XP. I have MS Office Suite in mine. I was commenting on Ernie's post where he discussed using MS Picture Manager. ;)

Is Picture Manager in a suite or can you buy it separately?

Not sure AJ. It came with Office. Check the MS site to see if it can be downloaded separately.
