2009 SEUC Test Ride
« on: September 01, 2008, 11:23:13 AM »

When I first saw the 09, I started to think may be? Well at the 105th I got the chance to ride
both, the SE Ultra and SE Road Glide. I got to tell you the freakin heat off the Ultra was to say the
least was TERRIBLE. I thought with all the changes, things had to get better, NOT!
The ONLY thing I liked on the 09  was the seat. My wife said to me on the ride, that if this is
what it's like, we'll keep our 06 SEUC. The tranny made all kinds of noise in both 1st & 5th,
and I noticed the ride was not, really any better then the bike I have. I still like the looks of
both the RG & Ultra, but the heat is just way too much. My buddy was all set to buy a SERG, but
after his ride, he could not believe the heat, and said he'll buy a used 06, and make his own custom
RG.

Boy, talk about a let down. I know all about the problems with the 110, but I still would have taken
a chance, but with all the heat & noise, I'll have to pass. Oh, and when we were at the lake front
where they had ALL the models & all the colors, I asked a factory guy about the excessive heat,
his response was " ride faster"! Great response.

That doesn't surprise me one bit !!!

Newer is NOT always better and sometimes we regret upgrading....Plus you can save some $$ by sticking with what is working fine.

Did a demo ride last weekend at Liberty H-D in Boston Hts. Ohio. My buddy (who wants a SEUC bad!) tested the orange '09 SEUC while I rode a standard Ultra. My demo had 1000 miles on it. One thing I noticed also was noisy tranny, especially in fifth gear and very noticeable driveline lash in fifth. It was a decent ride, but I could not wait to get back onto my '06 SEUC for the ride home. One noticeable improvement on the '09 was the brakes - they are strong. My buddy loved the '09 SEUC so much that he would not have noticed if monkeys were crawling out of the exhaust. He didn't notice any noisy tranny or clanky shifting like I did; he was in hog-heaven. I encourage him to buy the thing and he has ordered one. Now, I can make note to my wife that I will no longer have the most expensive motorcycle on the block!

If my eagle was totalled or I had to do it all again I would look for this baby. The color still grabs my eye everytime I see it plus the 110 motor is overrated !!
