I've saw a couple of threads in the SEUC section of the forum however, I've learned that this problem exists in other model 09 baggers.

Terrie's new Street Glide leans over a lot more than my SEEG or my previous Ultra Classics.  After viewing the information in the SEUC section, I then called the dealership.  They contacted the MoCo.  The report is that it applies to all the baggers built before a certain date (I don't remember what that date was).

They've now come out with HD part # 50096-09 that is on all the baggers being produced now.  However, a number of the baggers came off the line and were shipped prior to the problem being discovered and corrected.  The part is now back ordered till est. date of 12/5/08.  The part is $7X.00 something bucks!  They're going to replace Terrie's under a warranty ticket.

Here is a picture of the part........

I think most people got it replaced if they complained to HD.

Good post JC

I'm in that SE world and forgot that there were other 09's that may need a little help!

Nice picture!

Right Dave.  I know the SEUC owners saw those threads.  Thought I'd post it up here for those with a non spirited bagger (not a CVO) or know somebody who has one and has this problem.  I wouldn't have looked in the SEUC section nor would I have even known about this part if somebody hadn't pointed me to the SEUC section. :nixweiss:

Thought it was just for those bikes with a larger front wheel.

You may be right Dave.  I think the SG front wheel is 17".

I can tell you one thing for sure.........I sure like the way that bike handles.  And it's stock suspension! :2vrolijk_21:  My SEEG handles very well compared to most electra glide chassis but doesn't handle near as nice as Terrie's SG.  I didn't want to give it back. ;D

I keep telling everyone how well the 09's handle.
It's a world of difference.

Can anyone tell by this picture if I have the new part or the old part for the kickstand?

Here are yours and the new one (cite: Chip) for comparison:

Difficult to tell in a bracket to bracket to comparison though.  Post a pic taken from the rear of the bike standing on the kickstand.  It's a noticable difference between old and new.

The best way to tell is by your build date.  Here's the info. that I got from a friend at the MoCo:

This newer bracket, as you’ve likely heard, stands the bike up taller.  It has “OE” in raised letters on the back side to easily differentiate it.  The new bracket stands the bike up about 3° taller when on the sidestand, which substantially reduces the lift-off effort.  For reference, the original bracket was p/n 50078-08, which was used from Job 1 up until October 2, 2008.  The new bracket is p/n 50096-09.

From the outside (the side that you see when it's on the bike), mounted on the bike, they look identical.

Can you see the "OE" or do you have to remove it to see it?  I'm sure there is someplace with the date of manufacture on the bike, but where would that be easiest to find?  I'm curious now just to find out the date of manufacture.  I bought my bike on 11/6/08 and that would tell me how long it takes for a bike to be built and make it to a showroom floor.

The year and month of manufacture is on the VIN sticker.  But not the specific day.  To get more detail you'll have to call you VIN number in to your service desk.

Does anyone know what the difference is?

Can it be retro'd to older bikes?

I remember this thread and I kept meaning to check mine out, but I keep forgetting.  My bikes at the shop now, and maybe I'll remember when I'm there later today or tomorrow to check it out.

If the 800 or so early bikes had the old as in all touring bikes back say to 2000, then the new part should work on older bikes too, like mine - another puzzle to solve.
