Jim; I don't know about selling overseas, as that is a whole different ball of wax. However, the Moco tried to prevent dealers from selling on ebay, Amazon and similar sites as well as advertising deep discounts on their own sites. The Moco is attempting to "regionalize" sales to force people into their local dealer as opposed to ordering over the net. They've also forced dealers to discontinue wholesale discounts to indy repair shops. fortunately, for the moment, the Moco lost the internet battle. They've also precluded dealers from advertising discount sales on current parts. It's getting like marshall rule?

Yes, it is getting like martial law - wonder when they'll try to impose a curfew on when we can ride? But I can't see how what they are doing is legal, I really can't. If they were in Europe, their only recourse would be to fire dealers who went against them, but even that would be open to a legal challenge I think.

I wasn't aware of that, Hans. It's great that one dealer had the cojones to stand up to them, shame more didn't join in the action! Since it says "U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz on Monday ordered Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson Motor Co not to enforce its ban on sales of parts, accessories and apparel through third-party websites or to international customers. The judge's order is effective through Feb. 29." I'm surprised that other dealerships have just bent over and grabbed the edge of the table, instead of business as usual.... Jim

I suspect the reason is, even if the dealer prevails, HD has a number of ways to retailiate against the trouble makers.

Rumor has it Adventure HD out of Dover, Ohio purchased Liberty HD in Akron, Ohio and will be moving Liberty HD to Chapel Hill in Akron and it will be called Rubber City HD. I am thinking this is a good thing. If anyone has been to Liberty HD, its location is not the best. Chapel Hill is a much better location.

How could one or two dealers file a class action suit? If a judge were to certify a class it would, by definition, involve more than that as a plaintiff group. Even without using PACER a Google search for either dealer name and "class action" brings nothing up.

Not a Harley Dealership any longer. Still have doors open to sell used bikes and what's left. I go by it every day...
