chopped tour pak lock kit instructions
« on: February 09, 2009, 08:58:14 PM »

I got my lock kit for my chopped tour pak today, and there are no instructions in the bag of parts. If someone could post the instructions I would really appreciate it. The part # is 53194-07.  Thanks

This has to be one of those "picture is worth a thousand words" things.  So here ya go:

Tumbler turned this way to be oriented correctly for unlocked.

Then looking up at the opened lid put all the rest of it together like this:

One other thing.  If I remember correctly that lock kit you cited the number for is generic.  Not keyed to match any specific bike.  The part number for the tour pak tumbler shown (at least in prior years) in the parts manuals was for a complete bike lockset.  If all that is still the case you can get a tour pak cylinder only keyed to match your bike ordering part number 53848-00.

Thanks for the pictures. That was the part # on the receipt, but the lock kit that I've got is keyed to match. It came with 2 keys that fit my switch (tried them earlier) ,and I had to give the dealer the number off of my key, and wait for about a month to get it. Thanks again.

Here's a poor scan out of the service manual, page 2-90. I've done 2 of them now, getting ready to do the third, and it's always more of a PITA than it ought to be.

This forum never ceases to impress...!!   :pepper:

This short thread probably just saved me a hour or more of jacking with something that, for reasons I still don't quite comprehend, HD decided not to send instructions for.  >:(
