If you do this on your own, you need to get this cam spacer kit.

Has anyone actually tried the new Zippers tensioners and put some miles on them?

I have my cams out. The hydraulic tensioners have about 25K (maybe more) on them and I am planning on replacing them.
Not saying the zippers product is the panacea of upgrades, but, my SE tensioners (whole plate/pump option) are worn unevenly.

Spend $80 vs $160.
Certainly would not be the first time money was spent on perceived issues and wasted.

I'm with Hogasm though, the next bike is going to remain stock, I am following his lead.

BTW, for those interested, this cam plate has apparently superseded the "gear drive" version.

Using this plate without the tensioners requires plugging an oil passage to the plate.

When  using this kit and adding oil supply volume I suggest drilling out the oil return holes in the cam plate to a #43 drill and changing to Harleys latest revision breather assembly to prevent carry over. More top end oil needs to be dealt with especially when using added pressure by means of a Baisley spring.

Duane I am going to use the Zippers tennisioners and the rest is all fueling in the cam chest with the exception of cams. I am going to make the new bike as bullet pruff as possible I hope. I want to ride and don't need a rocket. I'm just thinking about going ahead while the bike is down to break the cases and do the timken conversion and true, plug and weld the flywheels. I really only want to do this once.

If bullet proof is the plan while you are at it be sure to do the crank work and use the older full compliment rods plus re-balance. This way the Feuling pump will live. They are a tight tolerance pump and not too forgiving on runout
