Inner fairing brackets
« on: March 28, 2009, 11:44:02 PM »

Since this covers all dressers with bat wing fairing I put it here.

I assume the bracket pictured below is another common break. I'm sure I've read about here in the past.

Mine is broken on the left side.

The crack is not all the way through.

I "end drilled" the crack and pop riveted a piece of steel to it.

I was at the dealer today, there are revised inner brackets available (called "weldment" in the book).

I have replaced my speaker brackets 3 times now. To put the brackets on with Hawg Wired speakers requires removing some of the bracket. Note, I broke 2 of the brackets before modifying the the piece like in this picture.

If you look close you can see that this bracket is starting to crack.

This is revision 3 of the HD brackets

Substantial more material in the prone to crack area.

Typical... I've had to replace all of the above a number of times now and refuse to give the moco any more money... now I just visit the local hardware store and fab something... no more problems since!
