Looks like you did.  Wow!  There's a problem I haven't had.  How long until I should expect that to happen?

Let's hope this is one of a kind problem. The bike has 3000 miles on her. I sent the pictures off to the dealer.

Maybe they'd pay to recover it and get rid of the gray stripe instead of replacing the seat...and toss a gel pad in there in the process.  You could come out of this a winner.  If it works...let me know...mine could accidently rip in the same place  :nixweiss:

I drive about 15,000 miles a year and this seat works for me. So far only 4000 miles but I like it just the way it came. I'm off to MN from VA so that will be the big test. 2500 miles round trip. I might have different thoughts when I get back.

I put 4000+ miles on in April, including a ride from Pittsburgh to Ft Lauderdale and back.  I really didn't have any problems with the stock seat, other than occasionally adjusting myself slightly.  Okay, maybe a bit of soreness in the tailbone area as I approached the 200 miles mark and time for another fill up.  I found that I can ride long distance with the stock seat, but was it truly comfortable or just not painful?  I think it's more along the lines that it's not a painful ride, but after several hundred miles racked up in a day, it's definitely not true comfort.  That's why I got the sheepskin with gel pad cover.  I haven't ridden a distance yet...hopefully I'll give it the full test next week.  From the initial rides with it, now we are talking real comfort...not just a bearable ride.  I hope it stays that way for the long trips.  I've got over 5000 miles planned out for this month.  That should be a real test...if the rain holds up and I actually make the rides.

Ride safe and keep us posted.

I have just over 5000 miles on mine and so far no problems.

yes, in fact my dealer is talking with H-D, right now. i had 800 miles on my bike when the seat ripped. it is going to be a problem with all of the SEUC 09'S, because the pan rubs on the seat, when you sit on it. when they send me my new seat (and they better!) i will take it to an upholstery shop and have them open it up and put a leather strip between the pan and the flimsy material.  lousy seat for the money!! :'( >:(

My dealer said he would call me this week. He better have a new seat. I also think that a lot of seats will rip because of the same problem. I'll post my dealers answer.

for sure, and i'll let you know what they tell my dealer. even with a replacement seat, unless you install something between the pan and material, it will rip again. i think there should be a recall on the seat. 38K and the seat rips!  >:(
