Need one adjustable pushrod or jamb nut
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:21:22 AM »

When in Washington DC for Rolling Thunder DC Mike suggested that all the valve train noise coming from my bike was not because of the ZIpper's 575's.

So a few weeks later I re-adjusted the valves. One of the jamb nuts broke. I need just a single push rod or just the jamb nut if anyone has any spares laying around.

These are Screamin Eagle adjustable push rods and the jamb nuts are hardened I assume. They are 3/8" fine threads but the width is only 1/2". Most 3/8" nuts are 9/16" width.
Even McMaster Carr does not have a nut similar to this.

dealer - you just put those on a few months ago correct?

I would make them take one off a set in stock...that is BS

I had the same thing happen.  Tuner adjusted the pushrods as "they were too loose".  Charged an extra $25 and cracked one of the nuts.  I got one at ACE Hardware.  Different size wrench and "shiny" but it has been fine for over 10K.  Same cams and SE pushrods as you have.

Right now I am using a Sears "re-threader" die. It is the right size and as been on a couple of weeks now. Held up fine doing some high speed laps around Pocono Raceway.
I just want to have the "correct" part in there.

Jim - thanks but Henry already sent me a UPS tracking number - isn't this site great?

Thanks all that have offered, I appreciate it. The cheapest I found a "real replacement is $40 for one push rod from Chi Town HD.
