HD, Velva and the TrueTrack mounts are motor mounts commonly mentioned.  Aside from OE knockoffs there's only one link I'm aware of that is pitched as an upgrade.  It's from Velva.

I have been very satisfied in the past with the Vela Ride motor mount. There are mixed opinions on the Velva ride stabilizers, which use an elastomer to dampen vibration. I'd be inclined to use the Tru-Track which is solid.

In that case, if you want solid links why not use stock parts?  I think they are cheaper than the aftermarket parts, and solid is solid.

I personally like the idea of having at least a slight damping effect like the Velva-Ride stabilizers.  Don't know if there is any scientific data to support it, but it does seem rather illogical to use rubber mounts but then provide two solid vibration paths to the frame with the solid links.  I've been using the Velva-Ride links for some time now and don't see any negative effects.  What have you heard to the contrary?

Jerry

BTW, what actually got bent?  I would have thought the bracket would bend before that link. :confused5:

That's always been my thought too Jerry.  Have absolutely nothing to quantify it.  Just the idea of a bit of vibration isolation seems a good thing though.  That it also seems to match up with a slightly improved seat-of-the-pants feel is all the confirmation I've ever needed.  Have used them for years on several different bikes.

Thank you to everyone. Just got the bike back and when it was in for service the HD Dealers never checked the mount and it was ready to come off (LOOSE). $65.00 later back on the road just to tighten up the mount. So on my next big service I will have a new one install if needed.
