Mem. Day Weekend on CA's Central Coast
« on: June 01, 2010, 02:46:02 PM »

My good friend, John just picked up a 2010 Street Glide and what better way to get used to it than to head up to the CA Central Coast?  We made reservations for three nights at the Blue Bird Inn in Cambria.  Great, biker friendly, place to stay.  UFOHOG said he'd meet us with Tammie and another couple, Larry and Dawn.

Heading down into the San Fernando Valley, Friday morning.  Beautiful day to start a ride:

Headed North (really West) on the 101 to the 23 North to hit Grimes Canyon which connects Moorpark with Fillmore.

Just South of Fillmore we turn West on Bardsdale Ave.  A left on S. Sespe St. will take you to a very scenic S. Mountain road into Santa Paula.  From there, it's the 150 into Ojai.

In Ojai, the 150 runs into the 33 North past the Deerlodge into Los Padres National Forest to the 166 which will take you West to the Coast, just north of Santa Maria.  Then it's the 101 North to San Luis Obisbo where we picked up the 1 / PCH into Morro Bay and up the coast to Cambria.

Here's a shot of our accomodations at the Bluebird.

Heading east out of Cambria you'll see Santa Rosa Creek Road.  Take it!

SRC Road is rough and narrow but well worth it.  For us L. A. types, it's another world.

SRC Road runs back to the 46 East.  From there we took Vinyard Road North through the Wine Country to Adelaide Road back to the 101 and North to King City to meet the group.

From there it was on to Hunter Liggitt Army Base and Nacimiento - Ferguson Road.

We've done Nacimiento - Ferguson Road with the CVO'ers before but it's one you could not get tired of.  Going up the east side is amazing but the views going down the west side are spectacular.

Nacimiento - Ferguson Road hits PCH (called Cabrillo Highway here) just south of Lucia.  Thought this was a great shot:
