« on: August 16, 2010, 09:45:33 AM »

Can someone please give a review on this new Hammock seat that is on the 2011 CVO Road Glides. Looks interesting with the shock absorbing features. Thanks

I can ride for many, many hours straight with the Hammock (heated) seat on my 2010 SE Ultra. If it's the same design as last year it's a great seat. I do switch it out with a Street Glide seat whenever I remove the TourPack. The only reason is to switch out to a more streamlined seat. The Hammock is very thick looking and without the TP it looks like a sofa.

If comfort is the primary criteria on your SE RGUltra, you're gonna love this seat.

Thanks for the reply Heatwave. I will actually be putting one on my Black CVO Ultra in a few weeks. The stock seat sits a little higher and does not appear to be the level of comfort the Hammock seat provides. The Hammock should have been factory installed on all CVO Touring backs since its inception. Thanks Again

I think you misunderstood. The seat on your 2010 Black CVO Ultra IS a hammock seat. It is a heated version of the hammock seat that is only available on the CVO Ultras.

I have the black 2010. Rode from 5 in the morning until 8 into the evening on Friday and Saturday on the way back from Sturgis. Have to say it is the most comfortable stock seat I have ridden. Some 866 miles a day. Great.

Heatwave is correct, the heated Hammock seats first appeared on the 2009 CVO Ultra, and remains standard on the CVO Ultras for 2010 and 2011. It is also standard on the 2011 CVO Road Glide. HD has slightly changed the design on the 2011 Hammock, It now has a narrower nose area which allows vertically challenged riders to touch the ground a little easier. Also the rear passenger now gets a suspended seat on the 2011 Hammock.

What will they think of next, a recliner, or a hide a bed?  ;D

I believe the Hammock seat was not introduced until 2010. I have the CVO brochures for both the 2009 and 2010 model years...and the Hammock seat was listed as a 'New Feature' in 2010.

Motorcycle USA. 2009 Harley-Davidson CVO First Rides. Tuesday, July 22, 2008
New additions to the '09 CVO Ultra Classic include matching rider and passenger backrests with suspended dual-control heated seats with shark print leather inserts. The seats are made to act like a hammock and are designed to take pressure points off your backside. I was already a fan of the Ultra's super-comfy seat, and the new version only solidified my viewpoint.

NEW HARLEY HAMMOCK TOURING SEAT WITH INTERNAL SUSPENSION-- New Design Delivers 30 Percent More Touring Comfort.
MILWAUKEE (Feb. 23, 2009) – Long-range riders will enjoy unmatched touring comfort with the new Harley Hammock Touring Seat (P/N 53051-09, $499.95) from Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories. The Harley Hammock seat, which is original equipment on the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide model, features a sling-like fabric suspension system manufactured from a blend of fibers that offer flexibility and durability.

2009 Harley-Davidson CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide $35,499 ($35,699 Calif.) Specs Page. Ergonomics and accessories.
The saddle is what Harley is calling “suspended.” In simple terms, the suspension in the saddle comes from a hammock-like arrangement of materials that allows the seat to flex under the rider.  Though seat height is a humane 29.8 inches, its wide shape can make flat footing difficult for riders under 5’10”

I stand corrected.

I find myself being pushed forward and I'm always trying to get myself further back in the seat while riding.  Is there a more comfortable seat (heated) for someone 6'2" that will put me further back and keep me from going forward?  Don't want to end up spending alot of money numerous times while looking for that perfect ride.  Otherwise I love my 2010 Black CVO Ultra!  Thanks!

Try moving your floorboards. It worked for my 6'4" frame. Here's a thread I started on moving your floorboards http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=39877.0

Have spent a little time looking at the New Hammock on the 2011 CVO Models and it is by far a more suspended seat than the one that came on my Black CVO. Hugs the frame a lot better and is narrower at the thigh area. After seating on it at the dealer I like it better than the old version. Appears to be a big improvement. Just my 2 cents. Again part #5000004.

At least in the pictures, the 2011 seat looks a lot better.  Not happy with my 10 seat at all. Put a Corbin dual tour on, but it could be better also.

No ready to spend another $900.....
