front engine mount replacement

ready to change but confused as to which one. should i use the velva or just replace the stock one??  i know its been discussed before but. -manual is not much help on the removal of the old one- cant get the engine to lift up high enough to remove the old. know you guys have all done this

Use the Velva.  To remove the old one, If I recall, you just have to free up one end of the lower link and carefully jack up the motor a bit.

Van, I've had the Velva mounts and the earlier OE mounts break on the red bike.  It's gone through one Velva mount, the original mount and two "C" revision mounts.  The mount that has lived longest there (about 20 months so far) is the D revision of the OE mount.  That mount still shows no signs of cracking nor other fatigue.

Install isn't a big deal with your lift and a scissor jack.  Get the regulator out of the way.  Take the nut off the long center bolt.  Raise the engine a bit.  I remove the bracket to get it out of the way.  Then unbolt the mount from the frame.

Thanks i knew you guys were up on it. My mount didnt look broken but was real soft like the rubber was breaking down. This is one thing ive never done on the bike so its time to learn. :bananarock:
ps chrome caliper looks great even if you cant see it! :bananarock:
