2011 CVO Ultra 121.17 RWHP and 126.26 RWTQ
« on: December 31, 2010, 12:25:56 PM »

Just got my bike back from the dealer a week ago.  I did the Woods cam TW-9B, Crane Adj push rods, Hand ported and polished stock heads, Reverse deck heads, performance clutch plate, Vance and Hines x pipe headers and CFR mufflers.  Stock air cleaner and pistons.  Custom dyno tune with Harley SE Race Tuner.  She runs like a raped ape.  The dealer said I could get another 5 HP from a different air cleaner and about another 5 HP from D&D 2 into 1 exhaust.  I am VERY please with my results from this set up. Last CVO ultra had the D&D Fat Cats 2 into 1 and it WAS F'n LOUD....

I am assuming those numbers are "uncorrected"?
Other options would be "SAE" or "STD" correction factors.
What is a "reverse deck"?

Who's the dealer?

Harley Davidson of Baltimore.  Shane is the service manager and the mechanic was Steve Schescka.  Awesome bunch of guys.

What is a "reverse deck"?

It is done to:

A) to clean up the surface of the head to give a good gasket seal (this will not harm the engine in any way)
B) A deeper cut than done in A, to reduce the size of the combustion chamber and increase compression.

If done properly, it should not bother the engine much. Confined to bikes only, all you have to worry about is decking it so much, valves could hit the piston, and making sure you take the slack up in the cam chain.

Doing this allows you to run the stock pistons without going up to the higher compression pistons.

Would you post the entire Dyno graph so we can see what it looks like?

Wiseasp,

What was your ending CCP with the woods cam and any idea how much you decked the heads?  .030 cometic or .045 SE headgaskets ?

Do you ride 3500 to 6000 a lot ?

I think what he is explaining is a "step deck" AKA spin drop.
