Corbin Classic Solo seat
« on: May 25, 2011, 07:41:04 AM »

Does anybody have experience with the Corbin Classic Solo seat ?
I am wondering if compared to the factory seat the rider will sit a bit lower and a bit closer. According to Corbin, with the CLOSE sole seat, the rider will be 2" closer than with the classic solo seat, but they do not specify the difference between the classic solo and the factory seat.

Yes, many of us ride with the Corbin Classic Solo.  My wife has the Corbin Classic Solo Close and it moves her quite a bit further forward.  She also has the sides of the tongue shaved down a bit.

Click on this link for pics of both of our seats....hers is the red 09 Street Glide.  You can scroll through other pages of this thread to see other pics of her seat.

By the way, I'd highly suggest that you order your seat through Jim (hd-dude on this forum) at Metal Dragon.  Not just to get the discount but he knows Corbin and CVOs (there is a big difference, expecially where the SESG and the p-pad is concerned, if you're going to use a tour pack goes).

Jim's phone (510) 885-9471.

Also, the pillion, luggage rack, tour pack, etc. all hook up exactly the same as the regular Corbin Classic on my bike......they're inter-changable.

Here's my seat being made at Corbin....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40248.30   You can scroll through other pages in that thread to see what it looks like with solo luggage rack, Corbin Touring Pillion (she loves it!), King Tour pack in both the two up position and the solo position.

Again, if you're going to get the pillion from Corbin and use it with a tour pack, you have to order through Jim.  You order it through anybody else, and you'll be sending it back.....like all the others on here have had to.  It has to be shaved down in the back differently to allow the tour pack to be put on and taken off. :2vrolijk_21:

I have the Corbin Classic solo and would say you sit back and down a little. I measured from my belt buckle to my dash, the Corbin was about 1/2" farther back.

If you order the Corbin without the narrowing in the nose (or the nose job as they call it) it will actually be a little wider than the stock seat so if you are looking to have more foot on the floor--you won't. This only affects the vertically challenged people--me included.

Thanks guys for all the good feedback!

JC,
would you say that on your wife's bike the close solo seat brought the seating position also up a bit ? I am 5ft7 and my arms are always stretched when riding(very uncomfortable). My concern is when you get closer and up your head will be more into the wind, but I guess this could be fixed with a taller windshield (have now a 6.5" Klockwerks).
Did you get the "nose job" done on the close solo or does the close solo naturally come with that?

Also I was contemplating different handlebars. Either the HD pullback or the Wild1 0575. But maybe in combination with the close solo would be too much. Any advise on this ?

My wife is also 5'7".  Looking back at the pics of her bike again, she has a Windvest 6" dark tint (has the recurved lip at the top) and the Harley Davidson Touring Pullbacks (2" up and 2" back from stock) and she rides very comfortable with a slight bend in her arms.  We do a lot of long distance touring (she has 40,000 miles on her 09) so she has to be comfortable.

Yes, she did have the nose shaved down on the sides, a bit.

Hope this helps. :2vrolijk_21:

Nothing else.  Several members on this forum have swithed to the touring pullbacks.  The catalog and their website says that you'll need new brake line, etc. but you don't.....just have to re-route it a bit.

By the way, my wife just pulled her bars back (down) more so she could use her fairing mounted mirrors.  On my bike, I went with the handlebar mounted mirrors.  Again, see the pics of both.

One more question - Do you have the standard Ovelbac or the large one on your bikes ?

Ordered yesterday with Jim. He is a great guy, very knowledgeable and helpful.
- Close solo saddle
- Touring pillion
- standard Ovalbac
- black leather, wildfire flames with double stitching (gray and red), nose narrowing, touring pillion angled at the end for detachable king-tourpack
Should look good on my black diamond bike. Will post pictures when I got the stuff.

will wait on the decision with the handlebar until I can test the closer seating position. But checked today the routing of the hydraulic clutch cable. It is already pretty tight as it is. I am surprised that some of you could make it fit with the HD Touring Pullbacks or the Wild 0575. How did you manage to get the extra length required?

I second JCZ opinion and recommendation, I ordered my Corbin seat, pillion,BSR back rest, drivers back rest and tour pack pad from Jim and was not disappointed at all. Jim is great for getting things right.
