Well, had my first Harley in '64, and my sweet sweet ride for many years has been a Stage II '97 FXDWG that I've pretty much built myself (do all my own work, including cams), all tricked-out, lowered, comfortable, stunning, etc. My line for many years has been, "I'll get a bagger when I get old....."
But when they came out with the '09 CVO Road Glide in Stardust Silver & Titanium, I thought, "That is the most beautiful Harley ever made....bar none...", and immediately told self, "don't even think about it."
Well, retired, sold my beautiful, like-new '06 Duramax LT for $11,000 less that what I paid for it ("Employee Discount" days) 5 1/2 years and 60k mis. ago - it was paid for. Thought I'd get a new Road Glide Ultra (figured 66 is old enough to now get a bagger) for momma and me to take trips on. But after tricking it out like I wanted it, it was way over $30k, and I just didn't want to spend that much.
So I started looking for used, and found some great prices on the bright orange and bright yellow '09 CVO RG's - but my colors on everything are silver, grey's and black.
I'd only seen 3 in the Silver/Titanium color, and discovered a Virginia dealer still had one I had seen many months ago. Long story short is they took my offer and my cash from my Silverado and I have the sweetest scoot Harley ever made - '09 CVO Road Glide in Silver/Titanium.
Immediately put a WindSplitter windshield on it and Rinehart slip-ons, and now it sounds as sweet as it looks!
It's an honor to be able to be a part of this forum now, though I probably don't belong as most of you all are pretty rich!
PS: As to the name Gatornapper, you'll have to look for a 1965 Indianapolis Star newspaper articles (who coined it) and the Kosciusko County court records for July of that year......
PSS: My Stage II Evo is still faster than the FLTRSE3.........
