TTS - Setting throttle blade control to 100%
« on: September 15, 2011, 12:17:07 PM »

Are there any cons to setting the throttle blade control to 100% across the board. Any servo issue ... etc?? Thanks

Howie

Howie

don't recall anyone having those sorts of issues.
FWIW, my '09 was set to 100% across the board, my '10 is set a little "softer/ looser" across the board due to the different use these 2 bikes are subject to.
I tend to like my bikes set up "tight" either cable or TBW, but, that's just me!
BTW, both the TBW bikes are up to about 50K miles with the same tune.

There is no reason to do this and it can and does cause issues down at low engine RPM. You can really screw the idle and off idle areas up if you not careful.

Agree. It can and does get "touchy" at low RPM's and off idle.

Is the only "issue" that the the throttle becomes touchy or "jumpy"?

No, it can cause the engine not to return to idle properly when you let off and cause the idle to hunt up and down. If your going to mess with it I would leave everything below 5% alone. It's just not as simple as some would like it to be and if you do a test you can determine that there is no reason for it to go to 100% at anything below 2500 RPM unless the engine is so big that the throttle body is way to small.

Thanks Steve. If changes are to be made to this table should it be done prior to v-tuning?

Isn't this the tune you paid Doc to do in Florida?

It is best to Vtune first to see if any changes are really needed to the table at all. Like I said, I really push people away from playing with the table as I've not found that it is ever the cause of the problem to begin with.

Was your old Motors' tune set to 100%?
