Just thought I'd let go of my frustrations by writing it out on here.  This morning I went to take my son to school on the FXR4, warmed it up until the rear rocker box was getting warm, went to throw my leg over the bike to notice a watery looking substance dripping down the primary cover.  Stuck my finger in it, stuck the finger up under the helmet, and what do you know?....frickin' gas dripping out of the petcock.  Of course I shut the bike down, checked it out and the d@*n thing is leaking from the diaphram and the lever.

No more riding this year most likely as I don't have a trailer to get the thing to La Crosse.  My dad (thankfully) bought an extended warranty, so that $88.00 petcock will be next to free if I can get the bike there.  I drained the gas just to make sure a constant gas drip won't eat the primary gasket or any other adverse effects.  Do you think he should pay the extra couple bucks and get a Pingle one with/without the vacuum, or should he just get a stock H-D one installed.

Fun's over, but it was great while it lasted...all 911 miles I put on in the last month and I didn't have to pay a dime for it.  Here's to a wonderful father that let's me ride his bike.  Thanks for listening and thoughts on the petcock would be appreciated.

I had the same Harley petcock on my Sportster before I bought the FXR2 in 1999. The Sportster petcock shut down on me so I needed a new one. When I got the FXR2 I immediately changed the petcock to a Pingel and have not had a problem ever and that's been 12 years.

Pingel. Put one in my WG been there since bike was almost new no problems. Back in 96 HD had a rash of bad stock petcocks. Talked dealer into replacing with Pingel since there was no revised stock ones yet and no one had a stock one.

I have fixed all most as many pingels (orings) as i have fixed hd petcocks. there are 4 or5 times as meny hd petcocks(fuel cut off's) then there are pingels, a little math would tell me none of them are a end all fix to a problem
that does not exists.  just my two cents.    axil
