New Trailer
« on: July 18, 2006, 02:27:29 PM »

I am ordering a new trailer…
Have any Ideas that I must incorporate?

E-Track, Electrical, ATP Floor??

What do you like about your trailer?

Pictures would be Great.

Thanks!!

Only one recommendation I'd do as a "first call" on any consideration of a trailer.  That'd be call or PM Hubbard.  He sells the best ones out there and will certainly know what accessories work best for our kinds of use.  Look inside of his own personal bike trailer sometime and you'll see one not just done right; but done perfectly.

Also, check out the link below. This is what I bought 5 years ago and have been very happy with it to date. It has everything you need plus it has some additional add-ons if you desire. The companies main business is building horse trailers but the owner rides Harley's and couldn't find anything on the market to meet his specification so he added these to his line-up.
Either way Featherlite or Logan Coach you can't go wrong.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Love my Featherlite, use it daily in my auto business and occasionally for bikes, it is set up for two.  No point in showing you any pics of my set up as I know there are better tie down arrangement than mine.  It gets not the best care when employees use it daily and it has held up to all kinds of abuse.  Most likely we do 20k plus annually and it looks great.

I would say that a chock front that allows you to load alone would be a must for me if I change my set up.  You never can find help when you want to and a one man loading operation would really be great.

I have a custom made for me (stock trailer built to order), all aluminum Thule. I'm happy with it.

I have had 7'x14' and my current 8'x20'

My only comment is this:

If you have the power...GO BIGGER!

Same hassle in hooking and towing  20' vs a 14' etc.

The amount of times you say "I should have gone smaller" will be outweighed by the "I should have gone bigger" TEN FOLD!

My Powerstroke doesn't feel the insignificant difference between the two.

You might want to check out the WELLS CARGO motorcycle trailer. I've had mine since '99. Very high quality and looks sharp. I got black & chrome. My local HD dealer has the same trailer w/ the big orange HD bar and shield logos on the sides. Looks great. Seems like I paid about $6k for mine new 7 years ago. Hauls 2 full size bikes easily. Mine has been used very little, but when the wife and 2 kids want to go on vacation to the mountains in the summer, just cant leave the bikes sitting at home---they tend to sulk a lot--- so I haul them behind the truck and then ride the crap out of them once we get there  (the bikes- not the wife and kids)!!!. That way momma and kids are happy and I'm happy.

Couldn't agree more.  I got a Condor on BLM777's recommendation and it's been worth its weight in gold.

I have the "Trailer Only" model which retails for $170 + s/h:

Wasn't sure I had a pic with the trailer in it since it comes out of the shop so rarely.  But here is the fiberglass Excalibur trailer that I pull when needed.  Really light, aluminum floor, torsion spring for the suspension.  It's just a competent light duty trailer for one bike.

With the lid up and ramp open.  Makes for good headroom when loading or unloading:
