2007 SERK Chrome Problem

I have just returned from a trip to France and the weather was not too kind.

When giving the bike an initial wash-down/inspection, I noticed some very bad chrome peeling on the front wheel.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I know that  but I wont have access to both bike and camera till the weekend so will take some pics then and post.

Yes, I had to get mine replaced about a year after purchased.

I guess that was covered under warranty. Problem for me is bike is now 5 years old - but this still should NOT have happened. Obviously got nowhere with the Dealer or MoCo, so now weighing up the cost of having them re-chromed or replaced.

Obviously I got absolutely nowhere with the MoCo despite very active support from my dealer.

I was considering a new wheel but just can't bring myself to part with the $$$ for what may be another 'faulty' wheel. A local chrome company has taken a look and, although they won't chrome on aluminium, they have suggested a mirror polish 

I have had a look at some of the aluminium parts they have done this process on - and I was surprised by the results. It was very difficult to tell them apart from the chrome on the bike when I put them together.

This might be a better option and is certainly a lot cheaper than  a new wheel.

Has anybody done this at all? What did the end product look like? Were you happy?
