Finally got around to doing the install a few minutes ago. Easy as pie...really...no problems whatsoever. Just watch their video a couple of times, read the instructions a couple of times, and you're good to go. Just make sure the lids are very clean and lint free, and do it in an area that is not cold or not too hot. I would NOT do this outside or in an open garage. I have a basement that stays relatively cool, even though it's hotter than Hades (some people call it Hell, but I call it Hades...mmmmmm) outside in Alabama today. I cleaned the tops with Griot's Spray Wash and a microfiber, then Windexed both with another clean microfiber. Got out my high intensity floor light so I could better see what I was doing. Mix up the solution in 24oz spray bottle of water, WASH YOUR HANDS to get rid of oils, wet the lid with solution, wet your hands with solution, unroll the film for whatever side you choose to do first (they are marked with Orange tape for the left, black for the right), wet the surface, make sure your fingers are still wet, peel off the film, wet down both sides, place on the lid and slide it around, into position. The film is cut so that the entire lid is covered, with the exceptions of a small part of each of the four corners, which is a radius cut and about 1/2" of material hangs over each side/end of the lid. Once in position, wet the rubber squeegee provided, wet the surface yet again, then hold in place with a thumb (that's a little tricky 'cause the stuff wants to slide around), then start about 3" from the front of the bag and stroke from back to front to anchor the piece. Wet it again. With a long, contiuous stroke, move the squeegee down the center of the bag, all the way to the back. Then get on one side of the lid and go from the center to the side all the way down the bag...repeat for the other side. Wet it again. Go over the entire bag again with firm strokes lengthwise, including the edges (not over the sides). Wet the provided microfiber cloth slightly (all wetting done with the solution) and roll the towel over each edge and down to remove solution/air. You have to work at this a bit to ensure all the edges are adhered to the side of the lid without bubbles. Then wet the whole thing again and go over it with the towel to remove excess and inspect your work to ensure there are no bubbles anywhere and that all edges are adhered. Repeat on the other bag. Took me about 30 minutes from start to finish.
Now let's just hope I didn't miss anything. It takes the stuff a couple of days to fully adhere, and they say there may be a slight haze here and there from moisture, but the film is breathable, so these will evaporate. I don't see any such places thus far.
Here's what it looks like putting it on, with the front tacked down and ready to squeegee the whole top:

Both of them from the front. The camera shows the edge more than it actually shows in real life, though the edge will probably always be visible if you look for it, much the same way the film edges on the side covers are visible. But not so much. I would also suspect that when waxing/polishing you will get an "edge" of wax visible that will have to be removed with a little extra effort.
Regardless, the stuff looks good when looking at it, will cover up small scratches/swirls, and is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new lid. Also, if it get damaged in whatever way, you peel it off, send it back via USPS, and they send you a new piece for $10 postage/handling. For life, no matter who owns the bike.

For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the stand, or who makes it. It's a really simple design, so could easily be fabricated if you have a metal shop. In fact, they may no longer make this design, as I can't seem to locate it by Googling or looking at old posts here. I've had mine since 2006. Fired00d has one, I know. Unlike the newer versions that work by leaning the bag onto a stand, this one makes it much easier to clean the bags off the bike due to there being only two small contact points on the bag. I wash and dry them on the this stand...also wax them on it. Perhaps someone will chime in with information...I can't remember chit these days. Murdered too many brain cells as a young man...

barefoot...if nobody can find it, or at least a better photo of it, remind me via PM in a few days and I'll take some more detailed photos for you, and some measurements. It's basically just square tubing and 1/4" or so solid rods that go into the rubber grommets to mount the bags and then two more rods towards the bottom of the bag with vinyl tips on them (to keep from scratching the bag) to hold it vertically. You can pick the whole thing up by the center and walk around with it, carefully, of course.

Mrider and Firedood .. Thanx for the link and pic on these stands .. I'm thinkin I will have a couple sets of these at the powder coater and mayb back before the week is over . I have another rack that I have used for a long time and made some off of it but I like this a lil better as they seem to hang better as opposed to the lean style that is pretty common .. I can make this rack a bit taller which I think will work better for me as well as makin the wall mount version for in the shop area .. I may even doll em up with some cnc artwork integrated somehow .. Its all about the look .. LOL

Making it a bit taller would not hurt a thing, but I'd probably want to make the footprint slightly wider as the thing would probably be less stable the taller it got. But desk to counter height would make it easier on old backs. The slant type racks are nice, especially the ones that fold up and can be put out of the way, but they do not help much with regards to cleaning the bags when on the rack...this type is much better for that purpose, IMO. There is always room for improvement though...another advantage of a slightly wider footprint would be that you could step on the the square tube to hold the rack in place when feeding the rods through the rubber grommets. Do I get a complimentary "new and improved" version for sparking your creative side?
