J&S Jack - revisited
« on: August 18, 2006, 11:36:13 PM »

OK, I always thought the floor locks on the jack were a little cheesy, especially considering how well made the jack is.
The two 1/2" bolts had to be turned down with a wrench in order to be effective, and then inside the garage I had to use plywood under the bolts to keep from damaging the garage floor.

So, I found a couple of "fluted thumb screws" that work perfect.

The screws are all steel, including the handle. You have a choice of pads, steel or Delrin, I chose Delrin.

These work well enough that you can easily lift the jack by turning the screws by hand.

Just under $23 before tax and shipping. A significant improvement, especially considering how easy this jack rolls with the bike on it.

Was waiting for the invoice to finish the post.

porthole,
I'll bite, where did you get them. I googled "fluted thumb screws", but didn't find anything like you pictured. John
PS they look like they came with the jack!
