2012 SESG Headlight Output Disappointing
« on: August 24, 2012, 06:13:17 PM »

The headlight output on my 2012 SESG leaves a lot to be desired, has anyone upgraded to the Daymaker LED Headlamp, is it worth the $524.95?  No....... I don't want to add auxiliary lighting and spoil the SG look.

The stock headlight does suck.   Really bad at night.   I went with the trucklite phase 7 and some small LEDs that work like spots and are turn signals.   They work great.  Really happy with the trucklite and it's so easy to install.   I'd go that way again.   :2vrolijk_21:

I went with Daymaker LED Headlamp well worth the money when it comes to night riding safety.

Also have the Daymaker LED and it's definitely a worthy upgrade. Plus I think it the black version looks awesome on a black bike 8)

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that thinks the stock headlight sucks.

The reason I inquired here on the forum in the first place is because I rode to a local family friendly biker night for dinner last week; it's held every Wednesday night at different restaurants in the local area.  I rode home on a back road and I had to pull over to verify if my headlight was even working because it wasn't lighting up the road ahead at all!  I can't see how the stock CVO SG headlight would pass any federal illumination requirements (if there are any for motorcycles)?  I've got to replace it with something but I absolutely do not want to change the look of the front end by adding auxiliary lights like on the EG.

X2...trucklite phase 7 is just as good as the HD version and 1/2 the price.

On all three of my Ultras (with the focused beam) the headlights have been bad bad bad, I have ordered the HD Led set and have my fingers crossed.
My 2003 road king with stock light was awesome for night time riding, i was always asked to lead at night because of this ( or they wanted me to hit the deer first?). I have always wondered why they changed to this new style of lamp.
cheers

Have the phase 7 headlight and running lights on my 2010 sesg. All I can say is WOW!!!! Every one I ride with even in the day light is like WTF!!! I am always in the lead at night. And talk about ease of installation, cost reduction and warrentee. You will not be disappointed. Have you ever been on the receiving end of a 747 airplane on final approach??? Install this headlight and every one you ride with will be!
