S&S headpipe 'ripped'
« on: July 26, 2013, 09:29:38 PM »

One year on the bike and the pipe between the slip-on and the crossover is completely 'ripped'.

I thought I heard a slight exhaust leak while in Parksville....so I snugged up the nuts on the head.....no difference.

Got worse on the way home....put bike on lift......was going to tighten the slip-on clamp as that's where it sounded like it was coming from. As soon as I got the socket on, the muffler started swinging...it was being held on by the heat shield.

Called Steve Drane on Saturday the 13th at 5 PM......said he'd be at the shop on Monday (closed) to get my bike in the shop. He got my bike squeezed in their very full schedule.......replaced the header with S&S's new version.....of course, NO charge!  Also figured I might as well get the slightly overdue service done so I have nothing to do but ride when I get home from work on the 30th...it'll be delivered on Tuesday.

The heat shield that looks pitted and scratched is actually pristine!
