Reverse gear
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:12:31 PM »

just landed the ol'lady a trike  [04 leahman kit real real clean] exploring the reverse gear kits for the stock 5 speed, would be great to here from you guys who have used  champion- mmd etc etc, I was told someone makes an extended shifter that the engine and exhaust dont heat to the point it burns your hand........anybody been there?
       Thanks Randy

I have the Champion on my '12 SG and I love how easy it is to use.  ::). Picture below shows the shifting knob.

thanks Judy Randy here I read bout the champion one and understand it's good, I also heard that theres someone else other than champion making a different shifter that gets away from the heat a little more and wires in the harness electric to prevent the mistake of forgetting it's still in reverse and kicking it into forward at the same time  thanks for taking the pic too. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

and baker makes one

http://bakerdrivetrain.com/f5r-factory-5-speed-reverse#

there stuff is never cheapest - but likely the best

its one down for reverse and five up - with a solenoid that prevents going down unless a button is pushed on the handlebar.

essentially the way the harley 3speed with reverse was on stock hd's

It is very easy to use.  I just push it down and slide it forward.  I am totally happy with the handle location and ease of operation.   :2vrolijk_21:
