Navigation Updates
« on: September 08, 2013, 11:09:59 AM »

Well it appears that Harley has found another way to keep us on the hook. It appears that if you want to update your navigation maps it will cost $150.00 per year, that is bad enough but the map that is in the GPS new is already out dated. Boy how does Magellan and Garmin along with others do this at no charge.

When I scoped out the new radio I thought to myself this is going to be just like the systems in cars, cost for map updates. Have to say I thought it would be more in the price range of $200.00 like my ford truck. Surprised is is less.

Just ano ther way for the MoCo to empty our pockets.

I am not really surprised by it. I would have been flabbergasted if the updates were free.

And with no more Auxiliary Input there is no way to use a Garmin unless they get the Bluetooth working so that you can Bluetooth something other then a phone.

i was reading somewhere, don't remember off the top of my head, but the gentleman was an avid gps user.  used more of it's capabilities than probably 95% of other users, and he found, that despite all it's limitations, the map that it was coming with was the most current map.

doesn't outweigh all of it's other limitations, but at least you don't have to pay to update right away.  course, in the wife's cadillac, map updates run about $200 and have had it since '08 and have yet to update it, but......

Just say no  :nixweiss:
Haven't updated the maps in either my wife's 08 Lincoln on my 11 Super Duty.

Only update I'll ever do with those two is on a trade in.
