CVO Cover
« on: September 12, 2013, 08:57:20 AM »

Is the cover that came with my bike suitable for outdoor use, or is it just a dust cover for indoors?

Thanks,

Joe

Indoor use only. I also believe it states it shouldn't be washed.

If it is the cloth one, indoors would be best unless you are sure it won't rain. Some even argue it's not a great long term indoor cover. More of an overnight dust cover.

Thanks Guys. I thought that was going to be the answer. I don't need to cover it in my garage. I was wondering about using it on the road. Guess I'll go cover shopping.

Check out - Exigent Bike Covers... they are great waterproof covers, pack light, many of us have them and recommend them. :2vrolijk_21:

The cover is very heavy duty.  I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it is an outdoor cover.  If it was not for outdoor use, why all the extensive ropes to sinch the cover down and keep it from flapping in the wind?  Personally I will not use mine indoors as I have a much more light weight and easy to use one.

I used mine indoors last winter and it worked great-kept all moisture off the bike.

Is the cover you're speaking embroidered with "Custom Vehicle Operations (like the one pictured below)?

If so that is for indoor use only as has been the case w/all the CVO covers in the past.

I asked my original question while I was at work this morning. I'm still trying to work out a way to get to Maggie Valley next week and was wondering about the cover that came with the bike. I hadn't looked at it since I threw it on a shelf the day I brought the bike home. When I saw Fired00d's reply with the picture I went out and found mine also had a tag on it. Turns out, it is an outdoor cover after all.  :2vrolijk_21:

Hmmmmm.... I sit corrected :D MoCo must have changed the covers... that's the first one that I've seen that has been for outdoor use.

Can you check and see what your 2012 bag says?   I tend to use mine when it gets a little chilly at nights during the winter time.  Gotta keep her comfy! ;D

Bingo!  Now I remember where I read "outdoor" cover. :)  But, even if I hadn't read the tag, I'd known it was for outdoor use just because of how it's made especially all the ropes on it to secure it on the bike.
