I had no idea that DCFireman is V's man! I haven't spent a great deal of time reading different postings on the site. I've read some on training, V-rods, etc., but never did I realize who DCFireman was until now. [smiley=nervous.gif] Sorry V!

Hi everyone, Friday's class went well. We had introductions, watched educational videos, and were divided into working groups to answer workbook questions. Saturday we were on the Nighthawk 250s most of the day. Then an hour or so of study and videos. Sunday we were on the bikes all day except for about an hour of calssroom which included the written test. I did really well riding both days until the test. I had stage fright testing infront of 11 classmates and spectators. I failed my riding test. I failed the "S" curve that we had to make inside a box. I went outside of the box. (I thought thinking or being outside the box was a good thing, lol). On another curve test I went too wide. During the emergency stop test they said I anticipated and stopped too soon. I had two tries. The first time I did. The second time my 11 classmates clapped - everyone thought I had made it. Guess not. I passed the written test. That doesn't help me. I don't get my motorcycle license at the end of the class. I'll have to practice everything on the V-Rod and go to the DMV for both the riding and written test. I am disappointed. Two of my classmates also failed the riding test. I did well riding both days. I had stage fright testing in front of everyone. It was timed. My timing was off, too, which cost me points. Grrr...... I will get a learner's permit. I will practice and go through the DMV. Hope all is well! Julia

Does the class allow you to retry just the riding test with them? It will ne easier on a rebel/nighthawk than a v-rod at motor vehicles.

I can't take the Honda MSF test again unless I take the course again which will cost another $250.00.
The only other option is testing at the DMV.
I will practice on the V-Rod in a school parking lot. If I can do the tight "s" curves in the box, then I should do well at the DMV test.
A friend suggested I rent a 250 bike for the test. That's an option.
Hope you had a great weekend! Julia

That is too bad...the place my wife used here in MA has the following written in their policies: [size=10] You will be charged $25 additional to:
Change your class date (reschedule) up to 5 days prior to class start. You must give us at least 5 days notice to reschedule. Rescheduling is available only to another class within the same calendar year on a space-available basis. You must choose the new class date at the time you reschedule. Retake the skill test at a later date (you must call us within 2 weeks of your course). You may re-test only once. To re-issue lost completion cards or certificates. Recoup costs of returned (bounced) checks. [/size] I can't take the Honda MSF test again unless I take the course again which will cost another $250.00.
The only other option is testing at the DMV.
I will practice on the V-Rod in a school parking lot.

What you may want to do if possible is go to the DMV test site on Saturday/Sunday when they are closed and practice on their course. This way it will be familiar to you when you do take the test. [smiley=pumpkin.gif] Ride Safe, Fired00d [smiley=fireman.gif]

Julia, I am sorry to hear what happned I have the same problem But I took the Riders Edge Class, THe guys new I had the problem because I spoke to them before the claas so they watched me like a hawk during the whole class. I took the s turn inside the little box the first try I thought that was what we were supose to do. They basicaly let me test my whole class at the end they told me to run throught it before my test they told me what to do but they never said test. I did great they told us it was a practice we all passed. We took the written test at the next day. You will make it I can tell you are determined.

Hi everyone,
I started a new thread "Newbie Rider Fails Riding Test" under General CVO discussion. I felt the topic no longer fit into this category.
Thank you for your advice and encouragement! I'm going out on the V-Rod today to practice.
And I agree with you about taking the test on a smaller bike. I'll practice with the V-rod, and consider renting a smaller crotchrocket for the test.
Hugs, Julia
