I have a 2011 FLTRUSE that also came with the Road Tech 660.  I also have a RT 665 that I purchased for another bike that I would like to snap into the 660 mount and plug the XM antenna into the mini USB port (hopefully there is a port).  So, before I pull the fairing off, I was hoping to get a little guidance.

- Are the 660 and 665 harnesses the same and will the 660 harness on my 2011 FLTRUSE fully support all 665 features, e.g. traffic and weather?
- Where will I find the mini USB port for the XM antenna?  Behind faring? Wrapped and hidden in a bundle of wires?
- Best location to place the antenna?  Fairing or elsewhere?
- Any other issues I may run into in the process?

Thanks in advance!!  Dave

Thanks, Dave

I believe it has been mentioned before that they (mounts) aren't the same (compatible). Easy way to check would be go on the Garmin site and look at the P/N's for the motorcycle mounts for each model. If they are different I'd believe they don't work, if the same you may be lucky.

The early model mounts were not the same. Garmin started making one mount for both the 660 and the 665 some time around 2010 so your mount may support the XM feature, which is the only feature that was different between the mounts.

The XM puck for the 665 uses the USB connector on the GPS wiring harness. It may be difficult to find but it is there.

The main cable from the mount will split into 2 legs. Each leg will split again into 2 legs so you end up with 4 legs.

Follow the main wiring harness from the GPS is will split into 2 legs, one of those legs will have the following:

A Red fused wire and a Black wire for Power.

A Mini USB connector for the XM Radio Puck

The other leg from the first split will have the:

A 3.5mm stereo audio output port.

A 2.5mm Mono Microphone Input port

Only way to tell for sure is to find the USB connector, plug in your XM Radio puck and see if the XM works. If it does your set to go if not you will need a new mount. Lots of folks mount the XM puck on top of the radio.

With that information I am encouraged that I may have the wiring harness with the antenna port.  I think I will take the plunge this weekend and remove the fairing (first time) to find the micro USB connector (hopefully not too hard to find).  Thanks again for your response!  Dave
