European Bikes
« on: December 06, 2006, 02:42:06 PM »

It would be interesting to know exactly what differences there are between the US bikes and our European models. I know the Californian bikes have some pretty major differences, but what about the rest ?

There are obviously some differences as V & H haven't even launched their True Duals for the European Bikes yet and I believe that the new SERT has only just become available to us (Part No. 32136-06A). Does that mean that K & N are/have made an air filter for the European bikes and if so what is the part No.?

At this point in time only three Screamers have arrived at our local dealership - two SESS and one SERK. We have not had any SEUC or SEEG bikes delivered at all and I know that there are four or five guys awaiting delivery of them at the moment. Why are we so far behind you guys when it comes to receiving our bikes.

In the meantime here's a pic of one of the classic passes we have over here in Europe to ride over - dreams are made of this.

Doesn't look like too many differences, but obviously enough to require the Exhaust manufactures manufacture product specific pipes.

Are European emission laws more relaxed than thse in the U.S.A ?

Thanks for the link Louis.

Welcome on this website, Ahog110 !  [smiley=drink.gif]

I invite you to read this other concerning the problem of A/C and exhaust for european bike.

Actually, we have not a real solution but with the first deliveries it'll be not long time.  :P

Here's a reply from one of the Techs at Chicago Harley Davidson following some fact finding from Softail Al.

"Because you have the "flapper valves" in your intake and in the exhaust "HDI Models", Harley Tech Support says if you change out the hi-flow and slip ons pipes the bike will put out all sorts of engine codes (not good).  Currently there is NO race tuner that works on HDI SERK models.  Good news is some time after the first of the year Harley will have a down load program through Digital Tech that will work when Hi-flow and pipes are installed.  So it's a waiting game right now".

S it looks like we are going to have to wait a little while.

Hi Bis,

Thanks for the info. on the thread. Once again some interesting stuff, but as I see it still no end to the story. I'm still trying to decide what to do to my new SERK and as yet have come across no sound information to make me say go ahead and do it. I'm intending to go along the lines of a SERT, K & N A/f and different pipes - the pipes issue seems to be the biggest problem at the moment. I see V & H do a Big Shot True Dual set up in the States, but is that going to be available here soon ? and if so what mapping will we need for them ?

I looked on the link that Louis posted, but V & H quote nothing Europe specific.

Hopefully we will have our answers soon.

Don't worry too much ahog. I live here and can't figure it out either! ;) I've been told that maps that are close, like Map 84, to the changes your looking at, will work better than nothing to start off with. You would need to have it Dyno'd to have it fine tuned. Some of the exhausts I'm looking at are not mapped in the SERT anyway, but if all you do is pipes, A/C, and SERT you should be OK. Discuss with the experts which map is closest to your application and use it as a starting point. If this is not accurate info, some please correct me. That's what I plan to do since I won't Dyno my new bike until after 1K. Hoist!

Well, I stand corrected even before I posted it! if there's an inherent issue with the way the HDI is set up, then I guess you guys will have to wait. Sorry guys. Hoist!

Hey Hoist - I think it's taken me about a week to come to this conclusion ! I'm hoping that by the time my new Serk arrives that the mapping codes will be sorted for the European bikes and that somebody else will have become "THE GUINEAPIG" before I start to shell out the filthy lucre.

I'm sure that our stuff will piggyback yours, we just have to wait a little longer.

I feel your pain Nige. After reading some of the stuff here, I'm kinda glad I'm not getting it until next month, after 1/2 the year is gone. Maybe things will be caught up by then and they'll also have all of their issues worked out. Maybe we'll get lucky that way. Hang in there man. Good Luck. Hoist!

To the attention of the specialists,

First question :
What part manage the engine codes ?

The second question will depend of this answer...

Thanks.

Thanks for the acknowlegement Nige. I've e-mailed V&H Tech asking for any news on the development of their "FuelPak" product re: mapping for the '07 HDI versions. I will post any replies.
