Title: Replacing Stock FLHRSEI2 seat
Post by: ZenVooDoo on October 12, 2003, 01:53:34 AM
I have a new Corbin seat for my FLHRSEI2. I can do surgery on brains and hearts (really) but am a loooooser when it comes to bike mechanics. When I unscrewed the rear seat screw on my screamin' eagle RK, I found the back rest adjust mechanism underneath. Do I unbolt the mechanism at the fender and remove it that way or is there a secret to taking the backrest off solo? I was excited just to figure out how to unscrew the saddle cross strap! The new seat is gorgeous but I need your help.

Be kind please!

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking about how to remove the rider back rest? Not the passenger back rest.

In that case there is a large lever where the back rest support bracket goes into the opening in the seat then into the chassis.
That tab needs to be squeezed and the back rest will pull right out.
If this the correct answer to the wrong question, you too must go easy on me for making a fool of myself.

Thanks Turk! That's what it took. I'll post a picture of the bike with the new seat shortly. It looks BAD! Thanks to HD for making these mechanical things easy for us LOOOOOOOOOOSER types!

P.S. It was an awesome day to ride here; just got back.

Here's the new seat in place, thanks to Turk's advice! The black is alligator and the burgundy is ostrich (a Louisiana gumbo!)
