Coeur d Alene Diamond Cup hydroplanes
« on: September 05, 2013, 01:34:40 PM »

After 35+ years unlimited H1 Hydroplanes returned to Lake Coeur d Alene this year. I volunteered to help and ended up placing all the H1 Turbine boats in the pits and also directing the crew traffic on the launch dock. Here's a clip of before the final race and in this The O'Boy Oberto, the Beacon Plumbing and the Graham Trucking opted for an early "LeMans" style launch to get out and jockey for lane position while the others did a normal start. Graham trucking ended up winning.

"The Ball & Chain" and I were riding through from Glacier on Friday and saw the sign on I-90, we were going to stop for gas and a break anyway, when we saw that the Unlimiteds were running, we checked in the La Quinta and enjoyed the weekend of racing and beautiful weather. We really enjoyed the piston powered boats!

We were on the Yellow '09 SERG.

It worked out for us as Madison (where we usually watch the Unlimiteds) was flooded out this year.
