2lane, that stinks. [smiley=thumbsdown.gif]  I hope I'm correct in thinking that her specialty should help to keep her out of harms way for the duration.  Nevertheless, she'll be in my prayers while away and so will you while you look forward to her return.

I had a real great day at church today and just got in and checked to see whats up on my favorite site. I read your good news bad news and have mixed emotions. I feel sad for you both as it is always difficult for people who have a love for each other, then have to be apart. That love can be between husband, wife, brothers, sisters, or friends. It always stinks but more so when that loved one is going to a battle zone. For this my heart is heavy.
In saying all that there is another part of me that has brought great joy. I am so proud of GoFastGirl and all the other men and women who serve and have served this wonderful Free nation we live in. Thank you!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
GoFastGirl, I will commit to pray for your safety and safe return every day until you come home. I will be asking God to place his angels around you and keep you out of harms way. I will also remember 2lane and pray that he gets all your widgets, trinkets, and upgrades on your scooter before you get back!

In any case the good news is that she's still planning on getting the yellow bike she'd spoken of .....
The unexpected news leading to this babysiting is that she was called up from IRR (Individual Ready Reserve) status to go back in to uniform.

TwoLane and GoFastGirl, It is sad to say goodbye. The logical mind understands why, the heart does not care - it just aches. My hubby is active duty and so the separations that the military breeds we understand.

Gofastgirl and twolane sorry to hear about the call up.  But thank you so much for your service to our country if it weren't for people like you we would'nt enjoy the freedoms we have.

Many of the guys on this site participated in the military during the Viet Nam era.  We had to face a different war at that time.  We understand the situation that you are in.  We are supportive and proud of you.   We are thankful for your service.  Some of us belong to various organizations that may be able to help you if and when you need it.  You can reach out at any time and we will be there for you.

Thanks to everyone.  I've printed everything (and I mean everything, the whole frigging board for the last few days worth to give her some extra recreational reading) out and made it the first mailing packet.  The mail may reach her final destination a few days before she does.  At least that's what I'm hoping for  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Sure have.  Email had been close to daily until a few days ago.  Then it was a long trip.  Got a note this evening though.  Had just gotten a new billet. Was complaining about travel, sand, weather, wind, food, accommodations, various new insects, lack of orders, lack of trained support and other things generally.  In other words she was settling in just like everyone else in uniform (fortunately she completely realizes the circumstances).

All in all she's doing fine and is actually looking forward to the work once she's been in place long enough to actually begin doing it.  She did ask if there'd been any word on the yellow bike.  Had to tell her that "yes, we got no bananas, we got no banannas today."  I didn't tell her that I'd been out riding this afternoon.  No sense in being a dick after all.... [smiley=blank.gif]
