C'mon Dave, what tire is it and how many miles at that point were on said tire? Talk about cuttin it close!

Donlop American elite was on it, and what I put back on, they don't cup near like the Junk that comes on the bike.  Wear is slightly better, cost is a lot less.

13K miles on the tire.  That was at 40psi, going up to 42 they say it will help tread life.

Last 2k miles tread went very fast.  Was not even at wear bars then, looked like 3000 to 3500 miles left in it, boy was I wrong.

Cmon Dave.    Not gooood to ride on a tire like that.  I worry about you buddy.     Stuart.  😨

I did a good tire inspection 2000 miles earlier.  Not on wear bars looked like 3000 miles plus left of tread.  It went fast.  Noticed is get squirrels on tow downshifts in curves.  Checked tire and first stop, dropped out of ride and went home.

I try to change them when just getting to wear bars.  They the most worn I have ever let a tire on a motorcycle get.

I have found the same wear pattern on mine also.
Got a American Elite Front coming this week. The oem tires seem to wear a little different than the AE.
Mine always seem to “sing” when miles pile up. AE’s not so much, maybe the tread pattern or something?
I’ve been pretty satisfied with the AE over the years.

I was averaging about 7500 miles on my OEM Dunlops, at 14500 miles (after 2 sets) I went to the Dunlop Elites on the advice of Terry at Beach Customs in Little River SC (Myrtle Beach).  Originally I thought 40lbs was too much, and after 5000 miles on them, they look and perform great.  I won't let them get to the point that Dave did, but 42 lbs seems like a lot?  It is a pretty stiff ride for me now, and soon will be looking at some suspension upgrades.

Dave can you point me to your supplier for "a lot less". I tried a few weeks back for a bit and the ones for my FLTRUSE are $340(rear) which is more than the stock Dunlop. Dealer did give me 10% off the AE a month or so ago but they've always given me 20% off the stock Dunlop. Hoping this one is worth the extra money.

Different size from mine. I'll have to look at their website again.

Yesterday took a nice ride with a friend, up through Big South Fork National recreation area, a nice 262 mile loop.  New back tire works much better.

Plan to ride with another group of guys today.

Took a long meandering ride that for us was essential to the local Harley shop that sold to a new owner last month to sign up for their new loyalty program.  Lots of changes, lots fewer employees & the ones that were still there were happy to be employed still.  Lots & lots of bikes & heard they were selling some.  This spring the weather has been outstanding, way better than usual.  If things were normal am guessing they would be having a much, much better sales year.  Biggest change was to combine the Service Dept. with the Parts Dept.

On the way home decided to take some little country lane roads I had not been on in a good while.  Meandered up into Georgia with No Particular Place To Go in mind.  Turned off on what used to be a nice little tree canopied curvy country road that intersects with another one just like it. Should have been about 20-30 miles of no traffic, farm houses with lots of trees & ponds & occasional tree canopies over meandering roads  After about 2-3 miles of loose asphalt, teeth jarring pot holes that were hit while missing bigger potholes, and tree roots under asphalt, I changed my mind & at the first opportunity changed roads.  South Jawjah roads appear to get repaired by a dart board method that must be decided by who got elected Road Commissioner in what area. Roads were still nice as to scenery but miserable as to riding. Ended up all good - a day riding is better than a day not riding.

Today it rained - nothing.

Tomorrow a ride to the coast with friends for a take out dinner from a family seafood place that we will take to a nice little waterside park.

Wheeled it out of the garage. Started it up. Sat on it. Looked at it. Pushed it back in and hooked it up to a battery tender.

Beautiful weather all week in the UK. 66 degrees F this afternoon. Going to sit out in the garden with a beer now and dream of better days to come.

Stay safe and well everyone.
