PTT button location
« on: November 22, 2019, 04:27:45 PM »

Considering buying a non-CVO 2020 Tri-Glide and trying to find part number for the PTT (push to talk) button so can add CB to it.  One dealer told me the correct part number for non-lighted was 71500503 and for lighted was 71500561.  But both these are for left hand switch packs.  On the Rushmores the PTT was moved to the right hand side.  But perhaps on the 2020 Tri-Glides did they move it back to the left?  And info appreciated.

The function of the PTT is controlled by the programming of the CAN bus.  Just add the second button and have the service dept reprogram the switch so you can have cruise or PTT on whichever side works for you. Button just pulls off of stem and can be moved to one side or the other for proper marking on the button.

Also hd has a kit for when you swap left and right switch functions. The kit comes with gray buttons to let rider know that the functions have been swapped. This is purely done for safety reasons . This may be the buttons your dealer is referring to. If you are interested in doing the function swap Doc Harley has a short video on YouTube that shows kit.

Thanks guys.  What confused me was that the dealer I spoke to said the PTT was on the left.   :nixweiss:

Anyway I figured it out by googling until I found a dealer who had a CVO Tri-Glide in stock, got the VIN and went to the H-D website and looked up the owner's manual.  Sure enough the PTT is on the right hand switch pack just like all the Rushmore bikes.  Understand that it can be swapped but what I'm looking for the the part number for the non-illuminated right hand switch pack with the PTT button.  No luck finding that yet but I'm still trying.

You can buy both illuminated switch packs through a discount online dealer for around $250. Simple swaps and it'll have the buttons you need.
