i have a 2011 street glide 96ci that i just upgraded to a 110ci. while doing the upgrade i had the dealer install the pro 110 performance upgrade kit which include se 10.5 high compression pistons, se perfect fit push rods, se 259e cams, se high performance inner cam bearings and se super pro tuner. i have rinehart true dual exhaust and a se heavy breather. what kind of numbers should i expect to see on a dyno? my current numbers are 101.19 hp and 105 lbs torque. should i expect more from this setup or are my numbers about average. if not should i take the bike back to harley for them to re dyno the bike? any input will be greatly appreciated. thank you

Those are your numbers after the mods?
Take it to a good tuner, not Harley.

Take a look at Harley's own statement in the SE Pro catalog (attachment) and then make your own conclusions. Consider that not all dyno's and/or dyno operators are created equal, your choice of exhaust system can play a significant role in your final numbers as well, and many of the very best tuners don't work for Harley dealerships.

Cupid how many runs did they make on your bike to tune it or did they just drop a canned map in and say go enjoy? Before you pay for a new tune might be worth the 35-50 bucks to have your bike run on a different dyno. Also what kind of dyno does the dealership have if it is a superflow the numbers might be right in line if it is a dynojet 250i they are on the low side depending on which exhaust you chose.
-
on the print out i recieved it says dynojet winpep
-
what is the number before the .drf that will be the number of the run for that WOT pull.
-
runfile_017.drf
run type: RO
run conditions: 80.63 degrees f, 29.53 in-Hg, humidity: 5%, SAE: 0.99

IMO a total of 17 runs is really low for doing a complete tune. Maybe Doc1 or Herko or one of the guys that tunes will comment further. I would have expected to see at least 30 something runs for a full tune.

We've seen 94 hp and 104 ft/lbs from carbed 88"ers.
Our American Iron Magazine build(coming in the March-April issues as we are told) went 112/119, 98", pulling thru a lousey air filter.
114/122, with the proper element.
I'd say something is MIA. :o

If this was my choice I would bypass the MOCO. Assuming the stock pistons are sealing fine just a cam change and tune will get you equal or better HP and TQ. Still the issues with the motor even with the program heads are not fixed. The cart before the wheel.
Would not get into any compares of older 5 speed bikes, many differences and on a dynojet they displayed better.

if it is a six gear run that is weak. that is about 5-6 more hp and 10-20 less tq. than I get out of stage 1 110's
the 17 runs is probably a correct indication of the total runs used to tune it if it was at most dealerships. not all tuners click the run button for all runs on the dyno,I dont collect runs when under load on the brake while setting AFR. so sometimes the run numbers dont reflect true times or runs on the dyno.
if you were able to wait around look at some t shirts, kick a few tires and they came and told you it was tuned. you didnt get a complete tune.
-
Bottom line is get it to a good tuner, and that is usually, not located in isle 8, of your local H-D Dept. store.

I am getting very similar numbers from my 2010 SEUC with a 110, Heavy Breather, Rienhart True duals and the HD tuner. I sometimes wonder if that's the best it can do also for the mods the bike has. I am looking for more throttle responce and feel it in the seat of your pants performance. So I'm thinking a 30 tooth drive sprocket may be my best option, cost wise????

I just put this kit in the 09SEDFB and the initial #s are 112.03 hp and 115.11 Tq with a Propipe and a port and polish of the stock head. They did an 80% tune with the pistons and rings being new and told me to come back at 500 miles and service the bike and re-tune. I heard another guy getting 123 Tq up in Ky and asked about it. The service tech said he could play with the numbers and change them by taking off the air cleaner and blowing fans during the runs if he wanted to just post numbers. I see the point and have to read numbers for what they are and realize they may not reflect performance on the tires.

I had that done to my '07 SEUC, but with the 251 cams. I had the Zippers high flow air kit and BUB slip on's. It made 101 and 115 on the dyno. I don't know what to expect with the 259e's.
-
Are we the only two guys that have done this kit upgrade? How do you guys fault the SERT?
-
I don't think they are blaming the SERT. By tuner they mean the technician that does the dyno tune. As was said in one of the above posts, few of the very best Tuners (technicians) work for a Harley dealership.
-
Well I have my bike scheduled to get re-tuned this Thursday. I changed the exhaust from the rinehart true duals to the Vance and hines power duals and 4" rinehart slip ons and I definitely noticed a difference in the seat of pants feel but we will see what the dyno says. Btw this setup sounds awesome
-
Others know more but i have been told by many different sources that high temp. and low humidity will take the numbers down. You want cool dense air to make power and you had neither on that day.80 degrees and 5% humidity is about as bad as it can get, my .02 worth.
-
Yes if you want to post big numbers tune in the winter. Keep in mind come summer you will not be producing all that power. Nobody's bike does, so it's a level field.
I do understand the point about the SERT and the technician variability.
-
80 deg and 5% is about as good as it gets during the summer! Try 80 deg and 95% now that will make the #s really look like s**t

I just picked up my bike after having the Pro performance upgrade kit installed. On my dyno below is my bike last year when I had the following done to it, install Andrews 54 cams, adjustable pushrods, .030 head gasket, Ventilator air cleaner, D&D fat cat. Bike had OK numbers but stumbled on the lower end. Tuners in my area could not resolve it. Decided to change and install the Performance upgrade kit from HD. So far the little bit I ran it, it runs good.
-
Had the local HD Dealership tune mine and it was not good. Ran it up to Jason at Fairbault HD and picked up 10 HP & 12 TQ as well as better throttle response, less heat and improved gas mileage. The person doing the tune is the key!!

Crunch29 those numbers look real close to mine but I have less of a dip at the the low end.
How many tunes does a man have to get to know when he has found the best. It may even be possible to find a good one at the DH.?
I work with the guys at Smokey Mountain HD what is their reputation?
-
My dip I believe is associated to my pipe. I have the performance baffle and have been told I could use a little more back pressure. I really didn't expect my numbers to improve. I was just looking to get it running better.
I had contacted Steve at Fullsac and was going to trailer my bike down to him and have a TTS tuner installed and have him tune it. I'm sure he would have corrected my issue. That trip would have cost 3000.00 or better.Plus a week of vacation.
I had this work done for half that cost? So I figured what the heck.
About tuners, I wish I new what tuners were good at the dealerships. In my area we don't have a lot of shops to choose from.
I know nothing about the guys from Smokey Mountain HD. So can't comment on that.
My next change is the 30t gear.
-
Not sure how far you want to go, but Dusty Warner at Alefs HD in Witchata KS is one of the best. My final tune was 052.drf, so he spent some time on it. He also did all of the head work himself. You can check out here dyno numbers on their website under their 100hp club. I'm #3 with the strongest 110.

Crunch I'd bet you are correct about the back pressure. I had the wife's Softail upgraded and with 2" baffles in the Rush pipes and got the same tq curve. We went back to the 1"3/4 baffle and it magically disappeared.
Protor, what kind of modifications did you have to do to get those numbers? They are good.

Ported 11.1 heads, 2.020 intake and 1.650 exhaust valves, Wiseco pistons with larger rods, T-mans 662-2 cams, SE 58mm T-body, SERT, V&H power duals with Hi Output, Timken bearing, welded and balanced crank and a good tune. Dusty did all of it. Simular to the T-Man stage 4 thumper series 110 kit.

we just did one, all SE, race tuner, 110 fptq, 103.4 hp

That does sound a bit more work than I did no wonder you got the HP, fine job.

:2vrolijk_21: at Jason @ Faribault, he has tuned my last bike & currently has my street glide doing some more "work" to it...
did just cams and D&D the first time & was a completely different bike, I can't wait to get it back this time around...I have heard nothing but good things about him...

I think you can do better.

I just got the final tune done at Smokey Mountain Harley Davidson after the 500 mile break-in. I lost 1hp at 5700rpm but had a better curve up that point. Like I car about that 1hp above redline. :2vrolijk_21:
I gained 5 tq over the whole range and am very pleased
Final performance numbers are 111hp'120Tq. on the 09 Fatbob.
